Re: Here comes the tax rises

The rest of the country is free to think what they like, I’m not trying to speak for them.

What she says and does may or may not have a bearing on the future, the point I’m making is I don’t recall the same noises from the same people when the last government was lying from day to day.

Re: Here comes the tax rises

A relative who worked in the meat trade most of his life told me that, whilst beef-on-the-hoof prices have been fairly stable for a while now, extra costs are being added at every stage of production, at a level that has never been seen before.

Transporters, abattoirs, cutters and distributors have all increases prices for their work, and that has meant a big spike in the price of beef at wholesalers, and the final prices at shops are at record levels.

Labour's NI hikes for employers are going to ramp all this up even higher, meaning "hard working people" are going to bear the brunt, as expected.

We all know that these price increases will appear in all forms of commerce, from products to services, and costs will be passed down to the final buyers.

What Boris did or did not do had NO effect on me, so I don't care. In the end if didn't effect you, why would you?. Her knowledge, work experience etc, does effect her decisions so will effect me.

If each stage in a chain has their costs increased by NI, then those links add up. Eg 0.2% increase in costs in one stage, might not look too bad, but after 5 of those stages you get a 1% increase by the last stage

Depends on weight dry or wet aged etc

For a 7oz dry aged ex dairy fillet iirc last time I had one I paid about £36 not including sauces and sides

So a proven liar who lied before he took power and continued to lie while PM didn't bother you at all, yet someone who doesn't actually have the power to change anything (all Chancellor decisions need to be signed off by the PM) says one thing and that worries you more?

I mean, if you just admitted you have double standards when it comes to political parties, that would be something.

Reeves has already said Labour won't put up any taxes for the remainder of this term. That's something to set your yardstick by. If she goes back on that then yes, you'll be heading in the right direction.

Too much.

I’ve had to downgrade to Rib Eye / Rump, which is ok, if cooked right with sauce …still good.

And, of course, it's not just the increases of employer NI behind it.

Do not forget that whilst households have had a bit of insulation from rising power prices, most of industry has not. And then there is the government edict that employers increase their wages to at least The Minimum Wage. And fuel costs.

It all "trickles down" to consumers in the end, to make them poorer, not richer.

But at least HMG profits from it all by higher VAT, NI and Income Tax receipts.

Except the actions of Boris and his elk brought about the downfall of the last government which has resulted in something you feel does effect you. Cause and effect, ironic isn't it.
