The upload rate is 512kbps and will still be tomorrow and the day after that and then the day after that, you get the picture....
|
So does that mean us BY customers are being "upped" to 512k or does this only related to NTL packages and we're stuck with the measly 384k we have now??

It doesn't mean anything of the sort - It was two typos that have now been corrected - You are looking at ntl's web portal, so obviously this is specific to ntl broadband services.

Re: Ntl to reduce upload speed on 10mb
NTL wouldn't downgrade the service to Telewest's poor upload speeds, it's just a typo since the NTL site has been redesigned to the nicer looking Telewest's site.
They must have been doing too much copy and paste!
From NTLs site:
Features
- Ultra fast up to 10Mb speed. Upload at 512kbps.
http://home.ntl.com/websales/product.do?id=3246
Atleast its safe to say the 10Mbps package hasn't been downgraded

I'm with BY and am used to the 384 upload, was rather hoping that we'd get the NTL 512 but seems they're going the other way on this.
What surprises me tho,if it's true,is the timing...why do it now when it means taking something away from your customers which is bound to upset more than a few people.Surely,if the rumoured upgrades are true, that would be the time to do it....put the 10meg on the 20/768 that BY has trialled. That way you'd be complaining that you weren't given as much, for free, that you'd expected or hoped for.A totally different scenario and ,in my opinion,no real justification for a complaint

Just done a reboot an my SB4100 and the only line I get that is to do with code is this
*** BOOTING *** SB4100-0.4.9.4-SCM02-NOSH

There's nothing obvious about it - the companies have "merged", the packages are being changed... there's no reason that the intention to have them the same might not be true, regardless of the fact the NTL site had a typo. There could just as easily be typos on the BY site!!

Yes there absolutely is. The obvious clue and as already mentioned - its on the ntl website thus, its all about ntl broadband services. You are on BY, so there is a seperate web portal all about BY services.

But haven't as of yet! The other clue, there hasn't been any announcement that ntl and Telewest have finally combined all products and services into a single portfolio of services available.
I cannot seriously believe that a typo being corrected suddenly signalled to you that BY customers might get the same as ntl customers? I have absolutely no idea how you come to work that one out.
Regardless, if the companies are merging, they are still running seperate services for the time being, besides - even if there was a small change to the upload rate, it isn't a sudden signal that both companies have now intergrated and running a single set of services.

I haven't even commented on this being true or untrue. I have simply and can quite categorically point out that the errors on the ntl website were simple little typos due to the site undergoing a recent update. It is nothing more, nothing less. Too much has been looked into this than there needs to be. Despite the obvious being spelled out to some people several times now.

Re: Ntl to reduce upload speed on 10mb
There isn't a typo on Telewest's site, it's said 384K (On 10Mb) Upload on Telewest for a long time now, and NTL has been 512K (On 10Mb) for a long time now too so since NTL redesigned their site to look like Telewest, someone must have copied incorrect info from Telewest site, that is all...
