I was in dicussion with a friend and he brought up the fact that he is currently only paying £17.99 for the 2Mbit cable internet, As it turns out he was going to disconnect but they offered him a discount!
Its pretty offensive that Ntl are giving discounts like this while loyal customers get stuck with the "normal" £24 price.
I know its common practice among many large business and in my opinion it should be illegal, why should a different rule apply to different customers.
Is it worth ringing up and threataning to disconnect in order to get this discount?
And they allways offer deals to new customers, you could phone them and say that, but if you are still in your 12 month contract i dont think they will
It has that effect unfortunately but NTL can't offer that pricing to all customers as they cannot afford to. Shame since I've been using their BB service for years now Would be nice to get something from NTL as a bonus now and then but at least they are looking to increase speeds again soon without increasing prices.
I know for a fact 4 customer's including myself who have threatened to disconnect all services, this includes dtv bb and phone who have all recieved some sort of discount.

I don't know about the man in the pub, but 'the man with his ear to the ground' implies there may be something in the air which allegedly will be coming VERY soon and MAY address your wish.
