To safely look directly at the sun, you need eclipse glasses that can reduce the intensity by roughly 100,000 times - in fact so dark that you can’t see anything else other than a dim glowing orb in the sky.
Also fun-fact, the retina at the back of the eye has no pain receptors, so you don’t know that it is being burnt and permanently damaged!
