Faulty modem?

Lately I've been getting quite a lot of packet loss on my connection when playing games, and tonight it's got very bad. I've ran Ping Plotter on multiple game servers and websites, and for some reason it reports packet loss of upto 5% on some of NTL's routers, and the routers of the ISP that the website/game server is hosted on (some times even the destination IP).

I have a router, but Ping Plotter shows no problem with it (constant 0 ping, no errors or packet loss, also no PL from the next hop after the router, but sometimes (rarely) it will show PL).

UK website/game servers, USA website/game servers and European website/game servers all show the same thing

My modem is about 2 and a half years old and is the ntl:100.

Any idea if this is a faulty modem or something else?

Thanks!

Re: Faulty modem?

generally packetloss can mean congestion on the NTL network or possibly an external problem outside the network, if you post your diagnostics im sure someone could have a look at them.

type

http://192.168.100.1/ in to the address bar and the username and password is root and root again, this might show if there is a problem with you power levels.

ok have you tried a speed and ping test ?

http://www.broadbandspeedtest.net/

make sure nothing related to usage of internet is running when doing the test.

try pinging a few sites like bbc.co.uk and post back the log.
