Question Replacing a laptop HDD

A friend of mine has a Compaq Presario 1201EA laptop. He's asked me to fit a new hard drive in it as his current one has died. Do I need to buy the same make, model and size drive that is currently fitted?

Just standard 2.5" IDE drives by the look of it. (watch out there are some SATA ones listed on some of these links as well)

And blimey laptop HDD's have come down in price a lot lately, and they even do 250 - 300gb ones now, Very reasonably priced to!
