Re: What will happen to the people with discounts after the change to virgin
I'm not posting detials of the offers because not sure whether were allowed to yet.
Most of them are like the Current NTL Value packs but just a lot better from what I can see.
And NTL must think the the prices they charge are good value for the service you get otherwise they would drop the price, but for some people its just about the cost. which is why we have retention offers.

MATTYSHEFF do you know when new offers are likely to be announced/available?

I would guess the new offers will go live on 14th February.

Re: What will happen to the people with discounts after the change to virgin
I look forward to seeing what offers are made by virgin media
I too am out of contract at the end of marcha and have started to look into going to sky based on
1. Price £37 v £62 is a whole lot of premium to pay for the cable broadband
2. Sky HD Programmig v TW Teleport Services
I hope that VM recognise that price is a factor as well as quality.
However until we see the details when and if they appear we cannot really take any action. I say this as someone who has negotiated discounts with retentions on a price match basis and remember one conversation last November when agreeing a 3 month deal on the basis that the prices of the services are going to be revised (indication downwards!) by virgin in January. As we know see the broadband did not change at all and most people in contact with retentions are in relation to this issue!
I would prefer not to have negotiation with retentions but am not prepared to pay the significant premium for VM and would move to Sky/BT. For me it is not an idle threat.
Individuals who are prepared to pay significant more for what is essentially the same service (+/- on both sides) are what certain companies in electricity , gas , telecommunication rely on and we must make them offer value for money

Re: What will happen to the people with discounts after the change to virgin
I'm currently on a TalkTalk matched offer from ntl retentions £20.50 for 10mbit BB, Talk Unlimited and line rental per month. The deal is for a year.
If they offer something similiar again hen I'll stay with Virgin Media. If not, off to Sky I go.

have fun with Sky then I would say... I for 1 hope that NTL or Virgin WONT be offering anything anymore to people with attitude like that
at least 1 thing with sky is is that your broadband service wont be as fast as with NTL or if you live say 50 meters from your exchange

That's a good deal mate. I have to renew mine every 3 months.
Several people on this thread do not seem to understand that ntl/virgin/whatever must be competitive pricewise ... they don't have hd for god's shake and they want to charge over the odds fluffing it with Richard Branson's cheapo PR...
NTL Galactic will never fly!

Re: What will happen to the people with discounts after the change to virgin
I rang retentions yesterday and got £20 off my monthly bill permanently. The guy said that it was a new offer that came in yesterday. Dunno if he was full of it or not?

Re: What will happen to the people with discounts after the change to virgin
The offers are comming, if you call sales as i did they have already started and some great prices too, not just for 12 months but for the life of the contract and i am an existing customer and got the deals. Looks like they have relised us existing customers are just as important, if not more, as new customers.

The reason i stay with NTL at the moment is because they are cheaper than Sky, if they become the same price i would choose Sky everytime.

I have gone for the following :
TV XL (top package)
Sports & movies
V+ (HD Box)
2nd standard box
Talk unlimited (free calls 24/7)
Talk international (cheaper calls abroad)
Talk mobile (cheaper calls to mobiles)
XL Broadband (10mb)
Total price £85. Price is also for the life of the contract not just a 12 month offer. This pakage is not on the websites yet. I was told it would be on the new web site which is comming after the launch of Virgin Media (mid feb i think).
Some packages that are posted on the web are 3 for £30 -
Middle TV package
Talk weekends (free call sat & sun)
Broadband M (2mb)
or 2 for £20
any combination of the above.
