Is it more of a case of if its working and not constantly disconnecting then all is good and don't worry about it, or would you expect to see small amounts of packet loss/Jitter, but the higher your levels climb the worse it gets.
We appear to be seeing numerous threads where Superhubs are running apparently fine with high downstream power levels so maybe a sticky for these might be an idea.
Just a thought.

Im new to this (install was this morning LOL) but iv had quite a variance in speed test results, from 15 to 45meg only hitting 49 rarely. also, browsing is slow and sometimes a page hangs and doesnt load for ages, then you hit refresh and its fine

No worries craig, I was directing this at the more technical forum members, just out of selfish curiosity
As mentioned your levels are way beyond the optimum and once the engineer has fitted an attenuator to the back of your modem or nipped down the road to the green cabinet that supplies you, to drop your cable down a tap or two you should be sweet.
If you still have issues once the engineer has been then I'm sure the nice guys and gals on here will be more than happy to help you find the cause.
Just be sure to check your DS power level has dropped before the engineer leaves.

No specific power levels have sent out to us but the is some leeway as mine are around zero but many are fine around 8/10 so no idea as yet.

Yep mines sitting at 8.9 to 9.3 and seems ok, but just for kicks I fitted a -6dB FPA on it but then the performance seemed to dip some what so I've left it off.

Re: 50mb install, power levels out? not affecting anything so far...
Just going to wait till tomorrow outside peak times to see if all is sorted. The readings seem to be okay on the superhub. power levels within range etc. however look at these:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1160708534.png
http://www.pingtest.net/result/34778949.png
but as i said, its in peak times, and this stipud p2p throttling is in place until midnight. ill post here tomorrow.
Just to double check, those connection stats I posted after the engineer came are all correct?
thanks

Re: 50mb install, power levels out? not affecting anything so far...
One of the down sides to Virgin is the high amount of Jitter and unstable pings. Your test's pretty much mimic mine but you should still be able to game ok, give it a go and see how you get on.
As far as I know there is absolutely nothing you can do about this.

Re: 50mb install, power levels out? not affecting anything so far...
Thought I would post this as this is the thread looking at power levels, had an VM engineer round earlier to adjust my download power levels, as was around 14 dBmV. Engineer fitted an “equaliser” device to bring down the level on the required channels, now around 8-8.5 dBmV.
He told me the normal range should be between -7 and 11 dBmV for where I am in Nottingham, so something to compare against.
Everything running smoothly, did have the odd web site load corruption before, which I didn’t get before the SH was installed but so far everything now looks fine.
He also asked me to use http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/ for testing speed which I’ve not used before, used internally apparently or that was what I was told!

yeah that site works okay for me
http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/res...221&v=12142388
the london speedtest.net server is also rock solid, the maidenhaid can be a bit hit and miss, depending on time of day. the others on speedtest are all pretty crap though

It is a common speed test site and anyone can use it, not really one that our 2nd line team would accept as evidence of speed issues though.
