Re: Screw The Payers, Give The Chancers Free Deals!
I think the reason they dont ask for a new 12 month contract is because they at NTL dont want to tie themselves down to it!
I mean these people are so disorganised in terms of the systems that they can only apply these rentention discounts for a 3 month term, they have to put a note in their diaries re when to reapply the discount in 3 months time and remember to do it!!! and if they're off sick or on holiday in 3 months you could end up finding your discount has been accidentally forgotten.
so there's no chance of a 12 month term - not when they cant organise a **** up in a brewery. they being the management not the retentions/customer services call centre staff who in my opinion are great.

I'm on a discounted 10meg deal - I would love to sign up for another 12months as I'm happy it matches the marketplace offerings.

Im not gonna lie or paint a rosy picture of the type of guy I am.I will want what I can get out of NTL and intend to continue asking for better deals as the market changes

so you wouldnt take a 12 month contract if the total was less than your paying right now? I can see pro's and con's, but at the end of the day you have to put a price on your own time for finding cheaper services and then getting NTL to match the price. Personally i feel that you get to a point where your own time costs more than the saving you make.
|
No I wouldnt cuz market forces are moving at such a pace that in 12 months we could all be getting as good as free net.But not those tied to a contract lol

Yeah i totally agree but i`m not going anywhere with an offer like that but yes they should enforce at least a 6 motnh contract if not more.

if people want a discount on top of a discount then ofcourse thats wrong, but what about people who have paid full price for years and years for products and services, yet not had anything offered to them, yes im aware we live in a corporate world, where profits bonuses for executives just a few of the things on a companies mind.

Re: Screw The Payers, Give The Chancers Free Deals!
if people think Sky is better, then move to Sky, or get NTL to give you the same price Sky are asking
Who the hell offers 17.99 for uncapped 10Mb service?
most companies who say they offer uncapped, just talk the talk, but later down the line, you get a call/email saying enough is enough, i download over 300gb a month, and no complaint from NTL, and 35.99 for such a service is worth it.
If NTL can afford to give what seems masses of people 17.99 10mb broadband, then we should all been on 17.99

i'm not paying anything for my 10Mb and haven't been for well over a year. That was NTL's way of getting me to stay (and I only have BB with them)!!! thanks very much!

you know that!
at first I was offered 6 months half price - i said "no, I'm going to Bulldog"
so they offered 6 months free - i said "no, I'm going to bulldog"
so they offered me 18 Months free. I stayed!

Well, they are going to get a nice little call from me
Offer me 17.99 for my 10mb broadband
Why they ask
Because your dishing it out like Candy, and it's my turn
If they refuse, i will go to Sky and while i'm at it, see if i can get their Sky HD

Thats sheer madness, if you had other services with them then fair enough but how the hell can a company "Give it away"?
I know i`m getting it for £17.99 a month but free for 18 months is taking the P**s

Re: Screw The Payers, Give The Chancers Free Deals!
stick to your guns and be adamant you want to leave. i think most people accept the first thing they offer. keep saying no until you get a really REALLY good deal. If you don't get the deal you want to hear, just tell them they will need to make it a really good deal for you to stay, then just go quiet. the silence puts the ball in their court and they will keep going until you respond well to what they are saying. use a bit of psychology and you can get some awesome deals anywhere, even in the highstreet. the trick is to truely stay silent. works better if you are looking at someone as they know ytou are still there!!! just ask for their best offer and stare at them. if they offer you something not quite on the mark, keep quiet and keep staring. you watch them drop their price!!! seriously, it works!! be confident in what you are saying to them.
at the end of the day, they must realise that the competitor you are looking to go to is offering something they are not, otherwise they would not offer 'deals'. make the most of their own shortcomings.

What if they call your bluff though? Then you will have to go research and find another provider.

Surely you do that first to know what price you would be happy with?

exactly. you would have to be happy to leave to go that far, as I was. if that is then the case, any deal is a bonus. but you also then have the option of pushing it to the edge, safe in the knowledge if they don't give you the deal, you will still be better off by leaving for another service provider.
