Screw The Payers, Give The Chancers Free Deals!

A member of a forum has just posted details of how he is only paying 17.99 for a year for his 10mb broadband.

What did he do?...phone 0800 052 9403 and threaten them that you will leave to Sky BroadBand

And within an hour, 6 more people just posted saying thanks, on how they got great deals, 3 people got the same deal of paying 17.99 for one year for their 10mb BB, and the rest said they got price cuts aswell.

Is it that easy...just phone NTL and make some sorry as excuse and get a massive cut on your bill.

Screw us who have been with them for years!...about time some Managers at NTL got their act together, i know they want to keep customers, but this is ridiculous.

It's been like that for a looong long time, ntl have always been concerned about reducing churn, but it does actually make sense. It can cost more to get a new customer, than keep an existing one. Just think of the installation costs to ntl alone.

The only real issue is how many people phone with no intention of moving. They are playing with fire because if ntl were to call their bluff :erm:

Would be nice to see some genuine offers for long term customers though, without having to resort to underhand methods to save some pennies.

Yes, it is ridiculous. I just hope that when these 'bargain hunters' need a fault resolving, they don't **** and moan about it taking a week to fix.

What ntl should do is make them sign a new contract for the discounts.

Mobile phone companies do it rigidly, so why can't ntl....?

Well said. It seems that businesses depend on the "silent majority" to pay disproportionately larger bills. I've been a loyal customer with many firms (car and house insurance, credit card companies, banks, utility companies, etc.) and often leave when they start playing this sort of game. Loyalty counts for nothing.

A couple of them have admitted that on previous times, NTL have just moved them to cancellations, and where about to Cancel them, untill ofcourse they said, they were "thinking" about it.

Still, looks like some of them are scoring this time

---------- Post added at 13:33 ---------- Previous post was at 13:29 ----------

Apparently one of them was given some info by a CS Rep that is not common knowledge

1:
because other companies are offering free wireless modems ntl won't give you a modem/router but if you buy your own-send them the receipt and they'll credit your account.

2:
latest ntl broadband price list they're not telling peeps about unless you threaten to cancel
1mb=9.99
4mb-14.99
10mb=17.99

3:
also they will match all 24/7 call plans for 6 months then allow you to review and upgrade/downgrade eyt every six months

The problems that these con artists are creating is just starting to rear it ugly head. To be able to offer these reduced prices to every con artist that phones up means that NTL has to reduce cost elsewhere. How are they doing that, Simple

They are getting rid of the very people YOU all will need to fix your faults.

I hope you will all be happy when it takes days and days to get anything fixed.

Sorry, but that is absolute rubbish. ntl supply the modem, you sort your own router out.

Oh well...what can we do

Just wish NTL could do a little more than what they are doing now regarding this

Their own fault. People see they can pay less and try and make it happen.

Neil, you're Mr Angrys biggest fan when he starts going on about ntl not legally being able to hold anyone to a 12 month contract - what's so different about this?

Re: Screw The Payers, Give The Chancers Free Deals!

I phoned NTL saying i wanted to cancel, paying £25 for 2meg (plus phone calls) was in my opinion to much, I had seen the Talk Talk offer and liked the look of that.

NTL offered me the deal am on now. 10meg (never get that much, 4meg at best ) and TU24. I was happy to stay.

Its not something that was made up just for me.

Somewhere in an NTL office, managers have sat down and put together price plans to match there competitors.

It is not my fault that they have not made this plan visible to everyone who is with NTL. Shame on them.

What they should have done however is match the TT 18 month contract in exchange for your discount.

ntl will never learn.....

Why are you slagging ntl off for not enforcing another minimum contract, when you're more than happay to big up Mr Angry when he says the contracts aren't enforcable? Are you not being a little bit hypocritical here Neil?

No I'm not, & here's why....

When the terms are fair-IE matching the Talk Talk package as close to like for like as they can, then including Talk Talk's 18month contract is not unreasonable.

ntl's other wooly terms deserve to have the holes exposed as Mr Angry has proved.
