No I'm not, & here's why....

When the terms are fair-IE matching the Talk Talk package as close to like for like as they can, then including Talk Talk's 18month contract is not unreasonable.

ntl's other wooly terms deserve to have the holes exposed as Mr Angry has proved.
I sometimes wonder why you don't just change the forum name back to nthellworld.co.uk or wehatentl.com or better still iloveskyandbt.co.uk

Considering this is a cableforum its very very anti cable

Just because it's a cable based forum (something that we chose to offer by the way), it doesn't mean that we have to pander to ntl.

Surly you don't have to knock them in every post you make.

No, I know it's not unreasonable, but t&cs are t&cs regardless of what package you take from ntl, and you're more than happy to agree with Mr Angry when he says ntl can't hold you to them, so what are ntl supposed to do?!?!?!?!

You can't have it both ways just to suit your own agenda Neil, ie slag ntl off. You think it's OK to have a new installation on a 12 month contract (at a rough cost to ntl of 250 quid), and then the sub decides to move to another country or whatever 4 months later, and they should be let out of that contract although in that 4 months ntl have only gotten an average of 120 qiud out of their 250 investment. You think ntl are stupid and losing more money by not keeping existing customers tied to new lower priced deals for x amount of months? Good job your vocation in life was not accountancy.

Fair Ts & Cs are very different to unfair Ts & Cs, don't confuse the two as they are totally different things.

I know what t&cs are for goodness sakes, I negotiate them every day.

There's only one set of t&cs at ntl Neil. Your argument is lame and holds no business sense whatsoever. And let's not forget, ntls objective is to make money..

Yes, & that's ntl's Ts & Cs, never mind whether they're legal & enforceable.

What is my arguement exactly?

Every company's objective is to make money, & perhaps if ntl were a little more clued up they would make more of it.

OMG its like half of you people dont look for bargains.Bet some of you never haggle at a car boot sale or a market. We live in a capitalist society where greed is everything. I for one will squeeze everything I can out a company if there taking my hard earned cash and I make no apoligies to those who feel hard done to cuz they wont stand up and fight for better value

here here

if your not prepared to squeeze your suppliers then more fool you, its regular business to them and regular business is valuable. At the end of the day if the company is well organised and profitable then you squeeze should only come out of the shareholders dividends.

So customer loyalty counts for nought?

i never said anything about loyalty. All im saying is if i can squeeze a regular reduction out of my supplier i will.

Reducing pices as a loyalty bonus doesnt work, however 1 month fre at the end of every 12 months might work. Suppliers need to balance discount with retention

Correct, so screw ntl the same way they will screw you with their unfair ( if not challenged ) t&c's, and no, they are not enforceable, point me to a case that ntl has taken to court

Re: Screw The Payers, Give The Chancers Free Deals!

hmm... might try this tomorrow for the record, my parent has been a customer since 1996, not once has NTL offered us a discount, we have been with sky a few years less and last year (or was it the year before ?) they rang up and offered a discount on their sports packages or movies, went for sports, we have had sports since then after the offer ended, so infact sky make more money off us, and look set to do so with their broadband.

if it wasent for me (i made the decisons based on the cost and information provided) we would not have sky or ntl!

there is no such thing as customer loyalty for compaines its not about how long you are with them, its about whether they will loose your existing custom, some bother others dont, so why should we not squeeze any company out of some discounts ?

it seems alot of utility compaines dont offer existing customers discounts, yet are signing new ones up with some excellent deals.
