Re: MTU/Update Failed... xBox 360
well lots of people here have the linksys wrt45g, myself and ryan have the wrt45gs which works flawlessly, linksys routers are very good in my experience, i have used lots of belkin routers wireless and wired and lots of linksys wired and wireless and the linksys routers give you the easiest setup by far but also the advanced options allow you to customise your network far more than other brands.
they can also be bought quite cheap these days as well.

Re: MTU/Update Failed... xBox 360
Hey, Thanks for the speedy response.
Think i will give the linksys router a go. Does is definitely work with Telewest/Blueyonder cable?
Any recommendations on the best place to purchase the router? After a quick search, i found one on amazon for 39.99 and free P&P. Is this a good price?
The Voyager cost £60 plus P&P via the BT website..... Ohhhhh how i hate BT.
Cheers =)

If its just a wired network you have, I suggest the Linksys BEFSR41. If you have both wired and wireless I would go with the WRT54G or GS. (all fully NTL compatable)
Ive never had a problem with Linksys and would highly recomend them.

A good choice of router but personally i'd of bought the GS model for £7 more.
You will need to purchase a Xbox 360 Wireless Bridge if it's a Xbox 360 you plan on connecting to live wirelessly. You won't need that though if you're planning on connecting it via a wire.

I still cant believe the price of them. Well worth having if you have a wireless setup, but the cost is scary.

Yes it's really high!
Now i've got mine i wouldn't go back to a wire as the Xbox is on the other side of the living room to the computer.

The cheapest i've seen it is £47 from Amazon. When i got mine from Pcworld a few months ago they had a deal going and i was able to get it for £49.99 with a free wireless adaptor worth £41 which i have no use for.

Re: MTU/Update Failed... xBox 360
Looked on Amazon and found the following.
1) Linksys WRT54GS-UK 125 Mbps Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster for £47
2) Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster WRT54GS - Wireless router + 4-port switch - EN, Fast EN, 802.11b, 802.11g for 39.99
Both free P&P
Whats the difference?

I'm not sure, but i've got the Linksys WRT54GS-UK model. Theres far more reviews for the UK model on Amazon and someone for the other model said it was shipped from France no UK mains lead.

Good luck, but you will pay a little more from a shop.
Just don't let any 16 year old at pcworld try and sell you something else!.

Re: MTU/Update Failed... xBox 360
I got the WRT45GS from PC World for 54.95 by ordering online and collecting at the store, i paid a bit more than I would have if I bought online but i did have it when I wanted it.
Im very impressed with the GS model, the speed of the actual network is fantastic, 125mbps with the speedbooster technology.
