explains a bit more, but if you get to that provisioning screen you should enter the details requested, then once the MAC is registered you should pick up an IP.

- you don't get this palaver with a stand alone modem, thank goodness

Nope, think that's the provisioning screen where you register the equipment against your account Once it's registered you should be off and running, if not there is always the cloning route lol.

Its still not working, I can't apply the settings in the router setup screen. I keep getting a network icon (with a small red cross) in the windows task bar and a message that says a network cable is unplugged!

possibly a silly question, forgive me in advance - but, the connection between the router & the STB may have to be X-over, while the connection between router & PC should be 'straight through'. The RJ45 socket on the STB will be marked if it requires a X-over cable - how is yours set up?

Its not a crossover, it's a straight fwd ethernet connection.
