This is your PC's 'LAN' address, within the network formed by your router and PC(s) connected to it. The router's LAN address is 192.168.2.1. What needs to happen of course is for the modem to give the WAN IP address provided by NTL to the Router, but it can't do this if the modem thinks it's still working off the USB port, or if the ethernet port is damaged.

Another thought - you are attaching the modem to the router's WAN port, and not one of the LAN ports, aren't you?
Chris,, dont want to be a pain but if correct its 192.168.2.*

but you should just switch off the modem for 5 mins plug in the belkin router and connect it to your pc and it should be fine after that. also there is a little useful link that I posted a while back in USEFUL IT INFO with all the setups you need to do for all UK ISP's so perhaps have a looksie there
