Have you been to Insert, then down to page numbers?

Re: Microsoft Word - Numbering
The better way to list anything in word is by using bullets

It's down to how the numbering is 'formatted'. If you highlight the list, then go Format->Bullets and Numbering - then you can control how the numbers are done.
Having said that, the automatic numbering feature of Word is one of the most frustrating things, ever!

yep especially when having used it once and have a list like 1,2,3,4,5,6. Then another paragraph then needing to number again from 1 but it won't let you and always wants put next number as 7

Meh, you are right, it is the single worst thing ever! I had to use numbering, the only way I got round it was to bring all the others out to the same level as 10+
Looks really shoddy though

Re: Microsoft Word - Numbering
I just switch the so-called "helpful" automatic settings off and do it manually setting tabs and indents.
It saves a lot of frustration!

If I could be bothered to search for it, someone posted a link ages back with someone typing "I can't take it any more, I'm going to end it all..." and the Paperclip going "It looks like you're trying to write a suicide note - do you want some help"

If you go to "Format" > "Bullets and Numbering" > "Numbered" there is an option to restart numbering, this lets you restart from 1.
