Ok fair point. I didn't quite think that through too well. I would have prefered it though if you could just point out my error without the p*** taking.

Re: Modem ID

Hi, I'm still struggling with this. The modem is picked up by the system, but can't find the driver. I've tried about 7 different drivers for , in theory the same modem but none of them are the correct one(or so windows tells me). This is weird, i'm not new to finding drivers as such and don't normally spend 3 f**king days on stupid drivers. Usually they just work!

Re: Modem ID

I don't want to throw it out. Theres nothing wrong with it expect i don't have the disk.

The actual name of it is

Rockwell/conexant soft56k speakerphone modem.

Can anyone shed any more light.? I've tried about 20 now from the driverguide website, from both manufacturers and they arn't suitable.

This pc is actually for my cousin. (shes very skint) and she's been saving for about 8 months now and was telling me shes raised 60£ so far....I didn't realise she was that skint so i thought id put one together. So far i've got a fresh install (98) on a 450 mhz intel 10GB hard drive, ISA sound card, and modem, speakers and monitor. Just the modem is giving me stick. I don't mind buying a new one but i'd rather do the whole thing for nothing!
