Well, I tend to post on things I know a little about, and I've learned a lot from some very experienced network people and the like. I'll be honest, I've been a lurker as opposed to a poster for a long time, missing opportunities to help, so I took the plunge
1. Send email from NTLWorld to Hotmail using OE. Success
2. Reply to email in hotmail from within browser. Fail. The failure appears as an email in the hotmail account
ok so the next step is to check your account settings in outlook express, if they are ok then perhaps your email account is inactive. you can test this by telnetting the account and trying to login.

If your original OE settings were incorrect, so the first e-mail was labelled as being "From" an incorrect account name, then all replies to it will fail in the manner you describe.
