Without me asking VM offered the following in June:
M350 (362Mbps download, 36Mbps upload)
Mega TV - with add-ons TNT Sports, Sky Sports HD & Sky Cinema HD
Telephone Line Rental
Weekend chatter
Total: £81.60pm
I accepted, and I don't think it's a rip-off and it was less than I was paying (so no "loyalty tax"). It might help that I've been a cable customer for over 28 years since subscribing to Cable London in Spring 1998, I'm currently a triple play customer (was quad play a while ago when I subscribed to O2's Pay Monthly), I always pay on time - meaning I'm the kind of customer that VM wants to keep.

And for me I was being charged £124ish for 250BB, XL TV and Phone line rental, so I left when FTTP became available.

Indeed, those on here can see I was a happy chappy on gig1, and I was prepared to stay over FTTP until they wanted me to pay circa 90 quid to stay for single play broadband.

Re: Virgin Media O2 to axe thousands of jobs
I left VM in April 2025, they upped my bill to £72pm for the 1gig, ridiculous. I'm getting 2gig up and down for less than half that now.

But Paul that is how every ISP treats their existing customers .... the new ones get everything given to them the existing ones with lots of years being loyal are being screwed over... having a nice friendly discussion about that with my current isp in NL (also Liberty Global) and seeing what they are willing to give me to stay currently not happy with what they are trying to offer and want to have the same offer as a new customer.

Just a question no edge . What is the cost at the end of the offer . Mine will go up by £40 per month , should I choose to except

Not every ISP and not to the same extent as VM.
My current ISP charges every customer the same, no annual increase, no retention deals.
Even other ISPs that have retention deals, they usually more fair who gets the offers (usually anyone who asks, unlike VM) and not a tripling of price, maybe just an extra 10-20%.
I am not a price sensitive person in terms of what I will pay for broadband, but I have huge issues with paying more than another customer for the same service on retention, VM is like a stall selling apples with randomised prices, one person pays 5p for their apple, the next 50p, the next 30p, and so on. If another customer is paying £35 for gig1 on retention offer, I expect to be offered the same deal, not £90. They have basically been using adaptive pricing for years.
I also dont believe in raising prices for the sake of it because someone is not in a long term contract. Although I will put up with it if it isnt extreme. £35 to £90 is extreme.
