Virgin Media O2 to axe thousands of jobs

Looks like i will be one of those as i will take voluntary redundancy should it be offered. I was expecting to retire next year anyway.

How many years have you worked for VM on the same contract?

Total time is 34 years however i was made redundant from NTL 21 years ago and then was hired back 12 months later and just made it back still on a NTL contract, therefor 20 years since. i will get a decent payout due to my job roll and pay scale should i be successful for voluntary redundancy :)

If they make you redundant you're looking at a legal minimum of 1.5 weeks salary for every year(over the age of 40) and 1 weeks pay under 40 you have been there so works out pretty good for you especially if it's early 2027 you planned to retire.

Edit

Apparently the maximum total statutory redundancy pay you can receive is £22,530 I didn't realise it was capped, but I guess they may boost it for voluntary.

Just like the old days isn’t it Sirius? Every October you’d get put on 90days consulting period.

Makes me all nostalgic!

Always interesting to see where they intend to trim the fat.
