Ageing population, Brexit, wars, massive debt from the last Govt. The current state of the UK isnt down to Labour. We've been in decline since 2010.

We've been in decline since other nations realised we'd rather buy their cheap shit than make our own

Much of Labours current fiscal issues are all of their own making.

Re: National Budget 2026

Labour doubled the debt before 2008.
After 2020, the deficit WAS going down, until covid.

The problem with temporary freebies is that people endlessly whinge when they stop. Eg After the covid freebies ended.

Re: National Budget 2026

I am dreading January my current fixed price leccy is 19p in Jan it will likely be 31p that is a crazy increase. Grateful for the year on cheap but it is going to be a £40 increase and my fix ends Feb 24th so I can not initiate a switch till Jan 6th

Labour didn’t double the debt or deficit before 2008 - in 2008, the debt increased due to the world-wide Financial Crisis caused by the banks.

1997 - deficit 3.0%, debt 37.4%
2007 - deficit 2.8%, debt 36.2%
2008 - deficit 2.9%, debt 47.7%

You said "before 2008", then seem to be ignoring the Financial Crisis…

1997 £350.1bn, 2008 £775.6bn and EXCLUDES public sector banks.
2006 £509.5bn, 2007 £543.5bn. Heading that way long before 2007.
Deficit, 2002 £34.1bn, 2003 £41.7bn, 2004 £49.1, 2005 £44.2bn 2006 £39.2bn, 2007 £45.0bn.
That DOESN'T include PFI which is off-books borrowing, but has to be paid back later.

Regardless of any crash, Labour had an ANNUAL deficit of nearly £50bn. Even with any "crash" factors, the debt would've hit £700bn by 2010, and as that level of spending couldn't be turned of overnight, the impact of Labour spending continued.

Stop spending what you don't have . Simple
For the record I have never spent what I cannot paid for. Yes taken interest free loan but have the cash to cover it making money by not handing it over.
