I'm now looking to trade the car in, but there doesn't seem to be any of those 4x4 pickups with a 50mm mounted in the rear available.

We don't have money, and we hollowed out big aspects of the state so we need even more money than we had before.

We (the UK) don't seem to have any money, but the people seem to.
They keep spending it on cars, new iPhones, 60" TV's, cookers, washing machines, furniture, clothes, sunglasses etc. . . which is good, until you realise many of the above are imported and therefore the UK only gets a miserably small amount.
Having said that, I highly doubt any manufacturing companies in the UK will get away with paying workers £35 for a 60 hour week

If the people have money, the bustards will tax it.

It's taxed when you earn it, taxed when you spend it, even taxed when you peg it. Maybe we could go back to bartering?

Re: Starmer’s chronicles
People make me laugh, we have sold our souls in terms of all those public assets that should be making the country money and we are left scratching around hoping inflation will eventually wipe away our debts and now there's no money people still want first rate services except of course they'll have to pay for them, they want this labour government to right the wrongs of the last 50 years, with no extra money and if they don't do it overnight there will be trouble and we'll invite some extremists to show us how shafting everyone who isn't a millionaire donar should be done properly, this country....

Re: Starmer’s chronicles
hehe yep, and there are articles all over the net (and some media) about how people shouldn't fall into the 'buy now pay later' trap of borrowing more than you can afford to pay back . . yet the Government(s) seem to see it as the only fiscal approach there is

And now Al Carnes (the former armed forces minister) has resigned for the same reason, and this is someone who served four tours in Afghanistan.
It’s not looking too good is it?

It’s almost as if Starmer has a list of Ways In Which I can Screw Up Today on his office wall and is ticking them off one by one.
