I thought you could record the UHD football matches on skyQ - is that incorrect?

Re: UHD on Virgin Media
you can record via the menu system - but it does not have a channel number for UHD.

Re: UHD on Virgin Media
Just been reading over on the Virgin Media forums, about some TVs not being able to handle the UHD/HLG. Seemingly mine is one of those, Sony XD93, but it handles the Planet Earth 2 HLG trial it auto switches to HDR mode just fine. And I've watched one or two 4k HDR Blu-Rays on this tele and all works as it should. Yet the options to choose UHD etc don't show up on the iplayer for me either through the V6 or the TV. Very strange.
The only possible thing I can think of is I need a different HDMI cable the one's I have are about 8 years old and not up to 18Gbps spec. Although they work perfectly fine on the PE trial and those Blu-rays. I have some syncwire 18Gbps HDMI cables arriving tomorrow so I'll see if that works. If it doesn't, I'm out of ideas. Regardless the HD picture on good old BBC1 HD is great though.

Re: UHD on Virgin Media
Go to settings in iPlayer and change to the trial, if your TV supports it you will see the UHD game in iPlayer, my TV is strangely not meant to be compatible with the iPlayer feed but I get it, it doesn't matter if your TV does UHD it has to support the BBC format so changing the cable mot12 will do nothing.

Assuming you have the V6 load up the iplayer navigate to settings along the top select iplayer beta and follow the links from the home page of the iplayer
Assuming slots are still available you'll see the game on the left hand side with an option to watch in UHD when you select it

Which format, what is it?
Apparently only certified 18Gbps HDMI cables will take 4K HLG/HDR at 50fps/60fps. But any cable can take HD and the other lesser 4K and HDR variants such as 24fps. It seems this is one area where the 'experts' say a cable can make the difference. Just going by several articles that I've read.
I don't normally buy into the cables thing but I've read quite a lot about HDR 50fps/60fps and the specific need for 2.0 18Gpbs HDMI cables.

Some HDMI leads don't even support HD properly. Any HDMI lead provided recently by VM will be high-speed and will support UHD, but some supplied back in the V+ days may not work reliably with V6, even if you don't have a 4K TV. If you were given/sent a new lead with a V6, use it.
But don't get conned into paying loads for a new HDMI lead. As long as it is labelled "hiigh speed", it will be fine. There are some perfactly good high-speed cables available for well under a tenner (or free with your V6)

Just get a high speed hdmi cable for less than £10 as that is what i am using, if you know you're using a crappy HDMI cable that isn't marked as high speed. But you need to establish if you have the option to even view the UHD feed on the BBC iplayer Beta first before wasting your money on cable, to do this go to the settings in iplayer and change it to the Beta, then the UHD football feed should appear on the main page, if your TV is compatible.

Is there a way of loading up the Iplayer app quickly on the V6 without having to go in the menus all the time?

I've given up using iplayer for it as it has dropped the sound again and my TV upscales HD beautifully to 4K where i can't really see any difference on my screen size.

Re: UHD on Virgin Media
the app was awful today, crashed, buffered and then came in with audio out of sync.
yeah its a trial, funny though that I managed to watch a broadcast of 4k from two other sources via the red button just fine recently.
btw, you must have a tiny screen if you cant see the different

Yes. Yesterday was perfect.
Today not so good. Dropouts and audio sync issues. I had both these issues via my TV iPlayer app and through the V6 app.
I suggest these issues are at the BBC end.
