Just to update, have received the SH2 and tried to method above.
Unfortunately I was only achieving speeds for 2-3mbps over wifi.
The V+ seemed to work fine still.
As apposed to 30-40mbps over wifi when using the SH1 as a modem.
I plugged the SH2 into its original place but only received speeds of 9-15mbps.
I also encountered the same problems as I did with the SH1, dropped connection, poor reception, etc.
It sadly looks like I will have to plug the SH2 into the original place as use as a modem again.
