So not a glitch. Get on the community forum. There are most probably a couple of tickets open, one for utilisation and the other being linked to these upgrades.

The fault has been open for a year now. They're in no rush to fix it.

The My Virgin Media and speedupgrade date is when enough capacity is ready for all tiers in an area to upgrade, not when the top tier upgrade has been released.

200Mbps as a product is available for new broadband connections and existing customer tier upgrades across all areas because the volume of connections is lower, so can be supported before enough capacity is available for all the in-place tier changes.

People phone in, get upgraded prematurely, and complain about not being able to hit the uplifted speed because the capacity hasn't been added to their area yet. How is that in any way smart?

Let alone people who are new subscribers. Someone who buys a new 'Vivid' 200Mb service on Martin Dee's node will see congestion to welcome them to Virgin Media. Immediately causing customer dissatisfaction and driving support calls.

It can't be that hard to ask people for postcodes before quoting speeds at them and, in turn, preventing customer relations from supplying upgrades early.

I am currently on the 50Mb service. Checking my area for the upgrade it is available right now, upgrade to 70Mb.
Although it appears that there may be a charge for this upgrade, notification is given by email once the upgrade order is placed.

So is there a charge for this upgrade?

I thought this upgrade was supposed to be free ? MY VM says I need to pay £5.99 to get a new Superdud.....

the upgrade is free as is the shub they want you to have (which is a good thing). The £6 is p&p to get the shub to you. To be fair it is well worth the few £££ for what you get in return.

What difference is it going to make to me if I'm on Modem mode anyway ? I guess diddly squat with the SH1 & 2. The £5.99 p&p they could take out of the several hundred pounds I pay them each year. We rent the equipment from VM, if it isn't fit for purpose they should replace as part of the rental.

My SH1 is fine on modem mode and I'm sure it would cope with 150MB - it's also very festive with its lights at Xmas time, so loathed to ditch it. Wonder if this is more about wifi sharing and the naffness of the SH1 wifi - won't be sharing with anyone anyway...
