Let's put it another way. Customer A decides to opt out of the upgrade. His bill will stay the same until the price rise on November 1st. Customer B takes the upgrade, and his bill will stay the same until the same price rise on 1st November. How much extra did Customer B pay for the speed upgrade over Customer A? Nothing. So how is it not a 'free' upgrade?
So just like the assumption of a 100, 200, 300 posted by other people on this forum who do not work for VM but was NOT said by VM, we now have OTHER news outlets reporting which now means that then means VM said it.

So defensive. The post above yours directly quotes VM T&Cs saying it's a free upgrade. Instead of double rolleyes can you both put us out of our misery and let us know how much it'll cost to accept the upgrade if it isn't free?

Well this sucks, 100mb short.

If I downgrade from 152 to 100 will I loose my loyalty discount?

There goes another assumption that i would even know how much, some of us do not work in customer facing or sales jobs

Renegotiating a new deal will mean new terms. Whether discounts are transferred over is unknown until you speak to VM.

No, you're building strawmen now. You and BenMcr both jumped on me for pointing out it's a free upgrade. VM's PR team directly told Ars it's a free upgrade, and the upgrade T&Cs state it's a free upgrade. That is (1) direct from VM and (2) chatter about other people's incorrect speculation about the potential upgrade speeds is not related at all to my assertion, nor does it support your or Ben's argument against me in refuting my saying it was a "free" upgrade with a price raise tacked on the end. VM have confirmed both directly, so why the hackles?

Yes, VM disappointing its customers (who pay up to £100 a month each) is hysterical. Highly amusing. I don't get the attitude, but it's pervasive throughout VM by the looks of it. Shame really.

whats up with the tiers? 70 as a low end Openreach killer. 150 and 200 too closely set as superfast speeds.

My apologies, but it just ****es me off that one person can come on this forum, post some bull that A or B is going to happen then everyone takes it as gospel. when it does not happen all we see if complaining as to why VM never did something that everyone now takes as gospel even when they never even said they would. There are and this is not aimed at you who think they know every thing that goes on at VM and yet never have or will work there.

Well I've got some power hopefully to get a decent deal, I currently have £7 loyalty discount (used to be £9) on 152mb BB only when I renewed around a month ago but just had an email with a price increase and this

Why assume that i know that information. I don't gauge my broadband speed as an extension of my manhood ?

How about less of the petty arguments about "free".

I'm still waiting to see a post confirming the new upload speeds, so how about posting some useful information instead of being bloody pedantic.

Not meaning to be rude but if virgin are advertising this upgrade as free in various places i don`t think its petty for paying customers to want clarification especially as staff are suggesting that it may not be free after all, just to add I was on the phone to customer services this afternoon and we got talking about this upgrade iam 99% sure they said it was a free upgrade when available.
