Whereas I agree it's highly unlikely (to the point of ridiculousness) VM would change their minds on a product launch due to what is being discussed here it is true that in the past they have requested certain information is removed from view on CF. I don't recall the reasons for this (more to do with my ADHD than reasons not being furnished) but it has happened. Make of this what you will.

I'm again pointing out that swearing is not allowed on this site. You are also not allowed to asterisk out certain letters in swearwords to avoid the swear filter.
However some of you seem to have either forgotten this or are new to the site.On this occasion I will let it pass however IF there is anymore such behaviour I will start editing posts and I WILL issue infractions.
Anyone wishing to remind themselves of the T&Cs of the site can find them here will all the additions and updates.

You not think some are getting a bit melodramatic on here, it's random people posting on forums about tv channels. All this I will post no longer blah blah, really?

The CF Team will decide what needs to be locked or deleted, not you.
As mentioned above, some people are getting a little too over dramatic in this thread. Time to calm down.

Thanks for recognising that Chad.

AIUI VM only make such requests where posts are considere libelous or detrimental to their standing as a business. If any such requests are not forthcoming, legal action to force said removal is considered.

I'm not sure if you are including the asterixes that I inserted into a particular word. To clarify, this was not done because the word was swearing, but because it referred to a particular unpleasent posting that I did not wish to reproduce in full.

Many people, particularly those with children, do not want to see such postings on a family friendly forum.

Their last request was neither.

Yep they threatened it last time but made a hasty (and embarrassing) retreat when we pointed out they had no legal basis whatsoever.

And instead you have successfully highlighted and drawn attention to it as the few asterixes make the "hidden" word all to obvious. These posts will now be edited since they serve no contribution to the topic of this discussion.

Re: Channel rumours ban - Make an official statement Virgin Media!
Just an addition to my earlier posts:
I've had a few PMs asking me to clarify the situation so this is it. We are not a 'hate' site for VM. We're not even hostile. When we were Nthellworld then yes it could be said the site was happy to be a thorn in VM's side but when we changed to CF the emphasis was on helping customers. VM (or NTL as it was) were happy for us to send them customer issues which to their credit were always resolved. That was obviously good for them and CF benefitted as we were known for having a 100% success rate for helping users.
We were never 'in their pockets' and neither did we ever owe them anything and certainly could not have been accused of 'towing the company line'. They never asked for any favours - just as we would never have agreed to them. The relationship worked well for about 5 years when suddenly they just stopped responding to us (around about the time the community site started. the least they could have done was inform us we weren't going to be used) and we figured if they weren't going to help us we won't help them.
We are still not hostile towards VM, they are welcome to contact us, post here or whatever. But we will not change the way we do things purely because it suits them. If they cannot or will not answer a question due to business confidentiality etc then that's understandable and we have no issue with that. What we won't stand for is the traditional BS that VM clearly inherited from the NTL days. Not all (or even most) VM staff are guilty of this of course but sadly those that are seem to occupy many decision-making roles.
We have no interest in making life hard for VM however us working with them has to be a 2-way street and since they dropped us they've shown no interest in that. Which is fair enough of course, I mean they have their own community forum now. But approaching us with threats of legal action if we do not remove posts will be never work.
Just FYI, I dealt with one incident recently where they threatened to take things further because a certain staffer's email address was on here. Now we will always remove a posted email address from here if we have not been given permission by that employee for it to be seen. However in this case I pointed out it was already in the public domain, on google as well as a few other forums (including their own).
We heard nothing back from them.

In fairness I have to point out that although there may not be many (any?) under 18s posting on here that does not mean we should act as if they won't.
Cable Forum has a policy of being a family-friendly site.

Re: Channel rumours ban - Make an official statement Virgin Media!
"Coming Soon..." is just one thread and in just 14 days has generated over 800,000 views. So as much as I am sceptical of a forum carrying any weight in commercial negotiations, I would be equally worried if I had evidence that those directly involved in these discussions were ignorant of the forum.
Evidence, somewhat crucial. Yet the missing element backing up everyone's argument.

I check this thread on average 4 times a day. I'm sure that some people would do it more often, some people less often. If you take me as an average, that would be round about 1400 following this thread.

Given less than 10 people count for well over half of the posts in the current thread alone, I think that's fairly unlikely.
