Please be aware that all I said today was " use the search luke" to the guy who could not find the calculator which is very easy to find using the search ( or in my case a keyboard key) then I get you trying to teach me to suck eggs so of course I was sarcastic in my reply. But why should we have to add a start button, seems to me they don't have a clue how to offer an option to there users and instead make some else do it. User friendly os my arse.

BTW i have lots of patience, but not for an over hyped under powered mobile phone operating system. Lets be truthful here it has not got a very good reputation, in fact a reputation that has forced the company who created it to rush out a fix with i might say a start button that is still nothing like the original one, could that be because it has not sold anywhere near what they expected it to sell, could it be that they know it will be very hard now to temp windows 7 users to down grade there massively better OS for this pile of cow excreta

resource hungry gui? funny win 8 is the lightest out the box since XP

Not as light as an OS with just a command line which is effectively what you are using if you need to resort to searching for everything.

ok dude windows 7 and you want to run services.msc quickest way to do it is start search and there you go. Other option win key r and run services.msc long winded way through the menus what's the diff? win 8s search is just the same

I for one have no issues with Windows 8, Windows + Q to get to the search for applications is easy enough and applications I use regularly I add a shortcut to the desktop or pin it to the taskbar, you just have to adapt. Then again I didn't really use the Start Menu on Windows 7, so there wasn't that much to adapt to for me personally. I just think a lot of people don't like change

and no one is twisting your arm making you use it either. Yet you have a few times, liked it then not liked it again when something does not work right yet like an old game like Call of Duty 4 for example

exactly well said plus lot quicker to find your programs on windows 8 usually one click instead of scrolling threw all the start menu don't need a start menu at all windows 8 is lot better than 7

Despite the fact that finding and buying Windows 7 PCs has become increasingly more expensive and difficult, just try finding one in a retail store, Windows 8 share is growing but still comes in last at 4.27 percent.

Worse still, Windows 8's month-over-month growth rate is lagging further and further behind Vista's dreadful 2007 adoption numbers. When comparing the operating systems when they were first launched, Windows 8's adoption rate in its first month trailed Vista by just over half-a-percent among PC buyers. Now, in their 8th month out, Vista's market-share numbers now lead Windows 8 by 3.64 percent. Needless to say, both lag far behind XP and Windows 7's numbers at similar points in their product life-cycle.

It's say it's a bit more than that - I think people don't mind change as long as it's not forced on them. If there's an option then we can try something for ourselves, see if it works and continue if we like it or revert if we don't. I can't stand 8's themes, toolbar etc, I much prefer that of 7 however I don't have the choice to make it look that way any more. I'd have liked to have been offered the option of doing so or keeping it as it is. Instead MS have decided they know what I want.

That's what I think people object to.

you can control it. What changes in win 8 from win 7 you want to control that you can't

M$ reported 17% increase in profits so I think they are ok

also M$ have over 90% hold on Desktop market share and Windows 8 is increasing that hold

but you can control it Sirus mate in 8.1 you can boot straight to desktop turn off hot corners see apps list instead of the live tiles on start screen if you want which is like a much faster start menu

It's unlikely that most Corporates/SMEs will move to Win8 in the next couple of years - they have all just moved/are moving to Win7, and the effort involved in migrating and integrating hundreds, if not thousands, of applications (including complex Line of Business and ERP systems) on hundreds, if not thousands ,of desktops, isn't something people want to do more than every five years or so....

According to Tiz's link, Win8 is growing at 0.5% per month, or 6% per year - so it should take around 16 years or so....

The figures are not a surprise but the results are not as bleak as some are making out.

People loved XP and it still has a massive market share, As does Win 7 due to the fact it had much better optimisation over Vista and of course XP got long in the tooth and held back advancement.

Like it or not in a unknown number of years time there will be a need to move forward to keep up with the tech I am sure in 5 years win 7 will have XPs seat in the market share Win 9 ,10 or whatever will have taken win 7s place and there will be haters for the next need to change whether its win 11 ,12 etc. The thing is with an over 90% share 17% profit increase does anyone really think M$ is in any kind of real trouble?
