The main point is that ESPN in the XL package was a great deal. Cant see many people leaving to be 15 quid for it elsewhere (it is NOT worth it)

yes from a business point of view, disappointing a ton of current customers and also ensuring no sports fan will ever sign up to their service again makes perfect sense

Its a fine balance though. They have to look at the whole customer base and not just the people who want x y and z.
This has been said a number of times - VM have been growing their customer base faster than Sky for a number of qtrs. even without Sky Atlantic. They will continue to grow their customer base without BT Sports.
So they have to make a shrewd calculation and if BT want more than VM' s calculation the VM will tell them to bugger off

And rightly so but as I said on previous post, should have other channels to compensate and they haven't so far at least

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 3.
BT surely cant expect many Virgin customers moving to them. As their TV channels are very few with virtually no HD. Is it worth it for a years free BT sport ?

People just won't be leaving in their droves over this. Let's take as an example the person most desperate to get the new Bt channels - you. You're not leaving, but instead are hooking up your old Sky box. From Virgin's point of view they keep you as a customer and save the money they were paying ESPN out of your monthly subs. So Virgin are quids in. Like I say, from a business point of view, this probably make sense - people like you are the reason why.
