Re: The Xbox One Thread
So in light of this news the people that pre ordered the Xbox One are any of you thinking about dropping Xbox One and going for PS4?

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Hmm. On the one hand it's good that MS has listened to people, but on the other hand I think it's gone too far.
The Family Sharing and other "cloud library" stuff was a brilliant idea... And now instead we're keeping the exact same system as with the 360.
It's a pity MS couldn't have worked a compromise:
24 hour check-ins: Family Sharing etc. is available.
Play offline using disc-based authentication: Family Sharing is disabled until you go back online.
Oh, and this also means you won't be able to instantly switch from one game to another, as you'll need to put the disc in.

I really think the more powerful GPU and memory will make a difference to a lot of games, but it will be a. Wait and see thing for me.

You can turn the Kinect off. It doesn't have to be staring and listening all the time.

I'm probably going to stick with my current plan of Xbox One at launch, PS4 next year.
But the loss of the Family Sharing is very annoying... That was one way to set aside the £80 price difference.

The more powerful issue doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm looking at the whole package. People playing pc games on a lower end machine have just as much fun gameplay wise as someone with a better system. Xbox live will be a better service , I'm 100% confident of that and thats extremely important to me , hell Sony have proved time and time again they're rubbish at writing software , they've only recently released an update that's bricked a load of ps3's , and from what I remember this isn't the first time !!!.
Kinect doesn't bother me either , it's got some cool features and if someone wants to spy on me and see me say in my underpants swearing at the tv and drinking then that's up to them lol. I think it has some really cool features !!

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Well I am pleased. I had made a pre-order for this precise scenario and I can now stick with XBox with my Live account and that control! Not being able to play without the disc is a loss but not a big one and this means we can buy 2nd games. You can always buy the digital versions if that bothers you only this time no need to check online with Microsoft! That online check was easily the worst part of it

Games will still be developed primarily for the Xbox One and then ported to the PS4 and PC, just how it is now with the games being developed mainly for the Xbox 360 and then ported to the PS3 and PC, since the Xbox is technically the slowest machine out of the 3.

still going PS4 although I know Sony could do it too the fact that MS were going to control second hand games means they could change thier minds again so unless it gets a lot cheaper we will be PS4 and might even get another new 360 as my one is playing up and I like playing against my son on CoD etc (two rooms less cheating that is I can beat him sometimes then lol)

Nope. The only way you can fast switch is to play digital downloads.
Any disc-based game would now require the disc to be present in the drive, so if you wanted to switch from one to another you'd need to get up and swap discs.
