If there's nothing else doing traffic when the PC is swictched on (after it's settled down), ICMP pings wouldn't need to be demoted. From Kush's TBB, it's clear that there is activity (avergae latency varying).

Same with SnoopZ's. Perhaps SnoopZ can advise.

All i have to do on the PC is switch it on for it to start spiking yellow, if i fireup a browser then i get far more yellow spikes.

Not sure if it makes a difference but i am using Windows 8 and Google Chrome, i also have a galaxy S3 connected to wifi all the time.

I have just remembered i get the same kind of graph with wireless turned off so that discounts my phone.

I'm fairly sure that most Idle PC's probably still have some kind of activity - programs checking for updates, email programs, steam, anything that runs in the background and requires a connection really. Hard to say as every machine is different but there's definitely something going on here I think.

Then again, we have about 6 servers that are online 24/7 and they don't seem to affect the graph as much.

I have just plugged in an old Netgear WNR2000 only capable of 100meg but its all i have in terms of a router to test with SH2. And so far im seeing ALOT lower latency when compared to SH2 in router mode.

SH2 Router mode:

Pinging thinkbroadband.co.uk [80.249.99.130] with 32 bytes of data:

Im limited to 94mb on that router due to the 100mbps port

So in a nut shell im actually quite annoyed that i now need to buy a router ontop of the £49 i just paid for the SH2

Will also setup a Thinkbroadband ping monitor over night and compare the two .

Got an Asus RT-N16 Coming on Tuesday with DD-WRT should run a treat, Not bad for £60.

yup, and let this be a lesson to everyone. If you need a modem get a shub 1 and put it in modem mode and then by yourself a proper router, especially if VM are going to charge you £50 for one.

Hi all,

I'm new to the fourm, I just wanted to ask seeing as I had got the new superhub 2 for a fee. do they all have blue LED lights and lack of virgin sign on the front of then or are they supposed to be the same colour of LED and virgin sign on the front as shown on this webpage from virgin http://help.virginmedia.com/system/s...MER_TYPE=Cable many thanks lee

The first batch seem to have all blue leds(my prefered choice) all the trialists got them first, not sure if anyone has one of the green leds and crappy logo on the front yet.

download the firmware from tomatousb, then upload it into the routers GUI

yeah I thought that, I got one with the blue LED lights as an upgrade from the shub 1.

The green LEDs in the VM photo are misleading. Green means that the circuit is operating under the DOCSIS 1 protocol (not used except for the intial booting). The LEDs will be blue when DOCSIS 3 is acquired for thr 30 meg and higher tiers.

AFAIK, the VM tirallists received production models which don't have the VM logo above the WPS button.

Also, to make life even more different, the front panel LEDs are described by VM as being on the side panel. Which side panel is that? The front one or the rear one? LOL.
