Yeah, it was talked about plenty during the trial. This is a tweaked setup, when I first got the SH2 in the early days of the trial it was like this:
It's mostly down to how you have your wifi settings configured and is mainly cosmetic.

Re: superhub 2
Amazes me that so many are apparently getting a Superhub 2, just paying for postage.
Leaving Virgin option seems to be the way to go in order to get one :P
You guy's must be good at blagging for new equipment (Always wanted to swap my old SA V+ box for a Samsung V+ :P
I never get any luck, no you will need to pay for a manned install.

Re: superhub 2
In contract until December, so I would be unable to use the "I would like to leave" option. I will have to wait to see if any offers come from Virgin.

Well I received my SH2 earlier today so easy to set up and get running too
did a few tests on old sh1 before installing pingtest.net speedtest.net etc noted results then switched to sh2
pingtest.net SH1 Ping 25ms Jitter 13ms packetloss 0% Line Quality B
Pingtest.net SH2 Ping 13ms Jitter 2ms packetloss 0% Line Quality A
Speedtest.net SH1 82.36Mb/s ping 21ms Upload 7.72Mb/s
Speedtest.net SH1 103.66Mb/s ping 6ms Upload 9.85Mb/s
So far so good lets see how it performs over the next few days

Re: superhub 2
My latency is higher on the SH2 compared to the SH1, My Mini-Slot Size has changed from 128 to 4 on my upstream. after looking around on the virginmedia forums someone spoke to an engineer about it and they said: "the reason the pings were high was due to the mini slot size being 4 and said soon enough a firmware update should sort this". knew i shouldn't have changed something that wasn't broken.

Re: superhub 2
Phoned VM earlier to attempt to get a Super Hub 2 without the install charge.
(Stated that the SuperHub One Wi-Fi within the property is not great and range is lacking.)
Person on the phone said i should really get a Engineer out to look at the problems with the Superhub One and would get an Engineer out as per the reps advice.
So in the end i left without the sole reason to actually phone them and i would imagine the engineer will not be able to do much.

Basically, the "engineer" was talking utter gollox.
The SH1 which uses the Broadcomm DOCSIS chipset reports the upstream minislot size as the number of symbols per minislot. At 16QAM, that's 4 bits per symbol so Minislot size of 128 = 64 Bytes.
The Puma 5 DOCSIS chipset (which was also used in the old VMNG300) reports the Minislot size as the number of upstream clock ticks each 6.25 Useconds wide.
So into a Minislot of 4 ticks is packed 64 Bytes.
Does that make sense?

Re: superhub 2
Is there a consensus yet: the SH2 has lower or higher latency than SH1 (both in modem mode)?

Re: superhub 2
In modem mode, the latency is the same between both of them.

Engineers don't touch wireless (unless something has changed, which I doubt). I would fully expect the engineer to come out, take one look at the superhub and say it's working fine, then leave.

Re: superhub 2
Got mine yesterday. Seems everything is working fine. 5GHz works really good get good signals.
I meant to get this 3 months ago because I was in the trail. But VM didn't sent me one. So have to ring after 3 months to get it.
Never want to be a beta tester again. What's the point joining the trial if the customers not in the trail gets the super hub before the beta tester?
People in the trail should be the first people to see the super hub 2 for the customers not in the trail.
