Re: superhub 2

When the brightness is low on mine, you can just about tell the lights are even on during the daytime. I'm yet to sleep in the office though, so I can't comment on the night.

Re: superhub 2

What you actually need keiron is an option to set the LED brightness for 2 time periods (night/day).

So during the day they can be bright and at night they can be dim. As you've said, if you have them on the dimmest setting they can be pretty much impossible to see during a bright day and at night, well, they're still too bright.

So, Night/Day mode and an even dimmer setting please.

I'll bet Kieren & co hope that the SH2 wish list needn't go any further than what sn00p has mooted. Plus of course a rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus by menu selection.

Could have built an ambient light sensor in, but would probably be cheaper to put a short length of insulation tape in each box.

Maybe the default setting could be changed to dim (don't know what the default is at the moment), and when you change to modem mode does the SH2 remember the setting? Can't say I ever changed the LED settings, but mine's upstairs in the 'coms' room (cupboard at the top of the stairs) so doesn't bother anyone. Would be nice if you could change the LED setting in modem mode though.

Cheers

Grim

Re: superhub 2

The SH2 remembers the setting when switching between router and modem mode.

It's been a few weeks since I was in modem mode but AFAICR the LEDs canbe changed if you sign in to the GUI.

Re: superhub 2

unless you have an issue why even look at them, id rather they spent time on other aspects rather than a dim sensor etc

That seems completely over-engineered.

Plus, I'm not aware of any other router where that is possible. Most don't even offer a option of three different light levels.

Re: superhub 2

Thinking of the environment, does the combined Superhub use less power than using a separate modem and router?

Re: superhub 2

Why would I need a £50 installation to swap an old superhub for a new one?

Sure charge £50 for it but don't try and mask the price behind an installation fee.

correct but most dont turn a bedroom into a disco room

I dont know how other routers make them bright enough to see in day whilst not having the disco affect, but I am not a manufacturer.

In modem mode, the SH uses c. half the power than in router mode. But yes, there's a small power increment due to having a separate router.

Someone on the forum's done the calculation. I think in cash terms it is around £8/year.

Me, I don't worry about the environment on account of electricity used. The price of electricity includes the carbon taxes which is good enough for me.
