Oh Osem, l just love people like you, probably brought up with a silver spoon stuck in your gob, I don't claim any benefits, l pay the full council rent and council tax. My wife gets a carers allowance for caring for my disabled son.

She doesn't complain about anyone else, I have been unemployed twice in my life, and l am due to retire in three years time from a job that l love, and looking after the vulnerable people of our society.

I see OAP's shivering in there houses, as they are scared to put on the heating, they survive on the meanest meals possible, watch TV all day on a secondhand TV.
They are scared to walk the streets in case of being mugged.

I get sick to death of this pocksy government spending billions of pounds sending overseas to countries that is worthless, and the money we send them gets used on the black market, and yes in the media today l read that they are going to give Syria that money to spend on arms.

Yes l do live in a council house, which is in need of repair, for which l wouldn't buy it, my council employ foreign workers that do the dodgy building work that l have ever seen. I get extremely annoyed when people say that l whinge and moan about this pocksy government - they think of the rich and defend them to the hilt but hit the poor, as they cannot answer for themself.

It always makes me laugh with the Tory party, they want to hit the mothers in the UK with my cuts.

Yet., Mr Hague is going to give Syria £20 million pounds of our money to supply weapons, for which is nothing to do with this country.

It very much has sorry to say, we as part of the European Union as part of the UN.... Nato arh that's it....wait ain't they helping out the rebels (the real terrorist problem) with aid to look like they trying to over turn the county own peoples elected leader? Didn't a Nato member release a news piece about providing armoured vehicles just last week.... it's same reason why the "Bank of England" bankrolled (totally funded) the Libya rebels to over throw the present government at the time.... there's a word for it; colonising > this case somebody else's country for resources & control of the middle east.

Yeah matey I was born with a solid silver spoon in my mouth, one of 5 kids to a window cleaner who couldn't read or write until he was in his 40's. Life was idyllic mate, nice and cosy wearing hand me downs and school shoes with holes in. No heating in our house apart from a coal fired water heater and a gas fire in the front room. Bedrooms so cold the condensation froze on the inside mate. Yeah it was luxury in our country pile as we scraped it off in the winter mornings!

Despite his limitations my old man worked hard for very long hours and never got benefits apart from CB like everyone else with children. No sick pay or unemployment benefit being self employed, no food on the table if he didn't work and the rock bottom state pension now he's nearly 90. He worked hard and my mum scrimped and saved in order to buy what people like you now take for granted and whine about.

You're not the only one with a disabled child you know, I have one who'll never be able to support himself. Being a teenager but unable to talk and write whilst having the mental age of a small child has that effect. The big difference between me and you is not a silver spoon you wrongly (as usual) assume I (and other people who disagree with you) was born with, it's that I don't believe that the world owes me a living and keep pitching up here every 5 minutes bleating on about how bad my lot is and how other people (who're also having a hard time) ought to pay more to subsidise me and mine whilst they and theirs suffer more.

Wow that's pretty harsh. Carers' allowance is because the care exceeds what is normal expected and usually affects their ability to earn money.

You need to stop eating Labour press releases for breakfast - look at the economics, not the politics. Reducing the 50p tax band was exactly what you are calling for - an attempt at reducing the incentive to individuals to rearrange their tax affairs.

The Treasury was in possession of hard evidence that the 50p rate had not resulted in any significant increase in revenue. This sort of thing occurs in matters of taxation for exactly the same reason it occurs in shops. You put your prices up too far and all you do is provide your customers with an incentive to go looking for savings. The "customers" of the top rate of tax are the very same people who are most able to afford tax advice or even to up sticks and leave the country altogether.

Tax rates exist as part of a global economy and have to be competitive. If they are not, the net result of whacking up the top rate is a long term erosion of the potential tax take from top earners. Considering that our top 10% of earners are earning 25% of the wealth and paying 50% of total income tax receipts, sacrificing that cash cow on the altar of some myopic socialist prejudice is just plain stupid. Which is why even Labour didn't do it when in office, except in the last few weeks of their administration, precisely for the purpose of sabotaging the whole deficit reduction debate. Think very, very carefully before deciding whether these are the people you want running the show after 2015.

So Arthur i am now going to use the same simplistic view that you have just used.

Because a person has worked all his life, not had to claimed benefits and paid for the house over his head, he is classed as a toff with a spoon in his mouth. So using your simplistic analogy if i was to say your a scrounger because you claim benefits would you take offence to that. Just because someone works and owns his own house does not make him have a spoon in his mouth
