As I think I said to him in another thread, if he is an existing Sky customer (as I am), then he can keep his box and access all of the Freesat from Sky channels (including Al Jazeera) alongside his Virgin Media service. Simples.
Not his ideal set up perhaps but I can't really see any other option other than staying with Sky entirely and I don't really see the point in going round and round in circles about it!

He may not even have to do that depending on the age of his TV. As most TV's have freeview built in these days. So he only has to switch from his VM box to freeview.

Of course, although I don't think you can get Al Jazeera on Freeview can you?
Plus he would be missing out on quality programming from the likes of Sumo TV, Body in Balance and Ideal World 3...

That's the whole point of having two providers. They offer differing products. They aren't supposed to be the same.
It would just be easier if you became a Sky customer because your list of things to moan about would at least be 90+ items.

Re: Sky or VM for TV???
Alan, you need to decide what is more important to you. A news channel who you say is better than a couple of American news channels (which isn't saying much), and a couple of other channels. Or catch up TV on demand.

We are going around in circles
You can't have both because it's not popular enough to justify VM paying for it. If they bought all the minority channels, then they would be as expensive as Sky (if not more expensive as many are bought from Sky).
As Hugh says, watch it on freeview.
