From reading the SamKnows site they use a Netgear router with custom firmware, see last paragraph:

Maybe that page hasn't been updated in a while? It does state they are working with other manufacturers so the magic boxes might well come in various flavours!

I have just had iit confirmed that the SamKnows Broadband Monitoring unit that is currently sitting on my desk in front of me, is collecting and collating data specifically and only for Virgin Media.
Some people are going to have to learn to accept that I do actually know what I'm talking about sometimes.

Anyway, back to the thread topic.
I have received one, rx'd the confirmation email with the speedtest, and signed up for it.

Haven't had anything yet. Maybe it's because I'm a heavy downloader or my area is just over utilised...

I know I'm not right every time. To suggest otherwise would be stupid. Therefore your comment, even in jest, is not really apprciated.

The exact quote is:
"Indeed the monitoring unit is for a Virgin Media specific monitoring and nothing else."
So I was right.

Re: Anyone had a 'Keeping Broadband Fast and Fair' email?
@Carl - any credibility you think you may have as a network/ISP expert is disappearing with each post you make, you may want to reconsider your approach. Might I suggest rejoining with a new username and maybe being a little less arrogant.

I see what you mean. You have no proof that what I posted is accurate. Fair enough. You can not believe if you like. Of course, I have no reason to lie. But okay.

Actually, you won't find anyone less arrogant that me.
Anyway... whatever
