I own a smartphone and love it. I wouldn't go back to a basic phone having used it. Most people are familiar with technology these days and aren't scared of it.

+1.
I'd be lost without my Desire HD... thank god it has sat nav

But a dedicated app for Tivo control rather than a web link would be better.

I do too but they are usually a bit more complicated to use than a STB but with Tivo (to me at least) that dosen't seem to be the case.

For me using a STB has always been a somewhat sedentary experience but that's just me.

It is is simple, unless the programme just happens to be on the first screen of the EPG when you bring it up!

You're already on the screen, that's the entire point.

For a quick recap:

Quote:
The question specifically was about from the TV guide, which on the V+ is 2 button presses (record then ok to confirm you want to cancel it) on Tivo it involves navigating away from the guide into an SD menu.
To which you said:

Quote:
Well I can achieve the same thing with two button presses on my Tivo remote....
And then went on to list going through multiple menus before getting to your "two button presses".

I seriously can't believe how even though you've even said it would be good to be able to do it from the tv guide the same as the V+, you are still going on about how it's not really that much more complicated on Tivo because you can do it from a completely different part of the interface.

That argument is perfectly logical. Just because it is done in a different way does not make one way "right" and the other way "wrong". It's just "different"

How about the fact you can do it both ways on V+?
If both ways are "right" then surely that means V+ is twice as right as Tivo?

I can only imagine when the novelty has worn off it will become even more of a pain to set recordings, flick through menus, etc. Its certainly not built for speed!
l find it fast and smooth like driving a Ferrari you could say.

Given my amazing knack of pressing record on the wrong programme it is useful for it be that simple to cancel. However, more often than not it was the V+'s fault for not reacting quick enough. But as the TiVO asks for confirmation, that'll help.

Re: What we would like in the next Tivo update.

Logical and consistent application of the PIN code system. It may be operating this already, but when the weather forecast at 13:30 on BBC One is deemed adult material I struggle to understand the logic employed. It would really help if a brief explanation of why a particular channel/programme is falling foul of the Pin Code Police where displayed so that it's behaviour could be seen to have some logic behind it.

If that's on your newly-installed box, it's because the EPG data wasn't complete. Give it a while to sort itself out.

Normally the PIN messages do tell you why a PIN is being requested.
