I said that Sky were cheaper for phone and I said I suspect they will be equal quality. By quality, I mean how good is the service if the phone line goes down; how quick do they come out and fix it; do they charge for repairs.
I was on Sky's side for the phone; not sure what you were objecting to

My point was there are always two sides to the story.

Still no news are they still in negotiations? several other people have asked the same question over the last 9 months and get similar answers, or lack of capacity.
|
Remind me, how many other European sat/cable providers are carrying ESPNA HD? Despite the length of time its been available and the big push ESPNA are making to get viewers to ask their providers to carry the HD channel you'd be hard-pushed to find more than 5, and at least two of them are Sky-owned. Satellite providers have to do very little as the channel's uplinked to satellite by ESPN so they just pay a fee and add it to their packages. Cable providers have to get hold of the signal and provide a space for it on one of their muxes, all of which costs extra money on top of whatever ESPN want for the channel. Unless more providers start to carry the channel I think ESPN will have to re-think how much they want for it.

For all we know, they could be exclusive for the moment to Sky.

Expect talks to take several years.

Sky were 'open' for talks during the Sky Basics dispute.
Didn't stop them for asking for x3 more money for Sky 1, did it?
And if VM had said, 'yeah, we'll pay that', .....then what?

Its disgraceful that VM have put up the XL cost just for the bloody Simpsons!

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. I.
ITV's HD channels will become available to Sky+ HD subscribers in autumn, starting with ITV2 in October. ITV was in talks with other providers, Crozier said, including Virgin Media, but the deal was exclusive to Sky among satellite platforms.

And one of those was VAT increase.
Strangely enough, Sky's prices also went up twice in the last year - September and January....
And of the channels removed, didn't Sky actually remove two of those?

ESPNA HD is an incredibly niche channel with a miniscule weekly reach, perfect for a stand alone subscription package but not perfect to be included in a package like XL and certainly not when they don't charge extra for HD.
I doubt it's that high up on VM's 'HD shopping spree' list but we'll see.

Sky of course put their prices up, usually in September. And Sky did close some of the ex-VMtv channels but since their September price rise they have launched Nickleodeon HD, Disney XD HD, Eden HD, ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD, ITV4 HD and Sky Atlantic HD. Of course they can do this because of their pricing structure, nevertheless value has been added since their price rise.
As far as I recall no pay channels have been added to XL for over 6 months but i'm happy to be corrected on that. Let's see what happens now VM's prices have increased.

Mate your constant defence of virgin despite the facts
is both without substance and tiresome. You are obviously entitled to your opinion but then again so are those that think the world is flat
