Well so what if I do? What I post here is my own opinion and nothing to do with my employer or what I do at work.

If you don't like the deal don't take it and stick with what you have or move to Sky.
If you don't like whats posted then post your feeling without getting personal to someone who is trying to be helpful and honest with us.
People like you are a waste of time reading as far I am concerned so will ignore you from now on.
DF mate just treat this idiot for what he is, an ignorant waste of space and just be yourself.

The way I see it Virgin will never be able to compete with Sky on content, so need to market themselves in a very different way and TiVo should be the anchor of this, unfortunately at present the price appears to be too prohibitive for them to fully exploit this new potential advantage at present and by the time they do, I fear they'll have lost that battle.
I've been looking at BT packages for telephone and broadband and they don't charge the extreme £130 reconnection fee anymore so that's tempting me strongly. I recognise Virgin's clear broadband advantages, but as speed isn't as important to me as much as the connection itself I'd be happy to trade.

Only if he meant it in the way you interpreted it, which I suspect he didn't.

I know I've gathered that it's for lower packages , I dread to think what that costs

Do you pass on the information both positive and negative on forums like this to VM?

You do have a valid point. But wheather you like it or not, because people know you work for VM, your responses are taken as being said from a VM perspective, despite the note in your sig.
It may not be fair, but it's a reality. The fact that you always seem to defend every VM decision (which is understandable) maybe doesn't help?

I don't work for Virgin Media. Also, I'm going to stick with my V+ until the price of TiVo comes down; in other words, I'm going to leave it.

I do that as well to read the views of people who use the services that I provide and you have to be willing to take the criticism as well as praise and do what you can within the constraints you work in to do better. So I hope the senior people do take that desire to learn and improve to heart. In a lot of ways I learn a lot more from criticism than praise so prefer that to be honest! There's always scope for improvement somehow.

Never had an Apple product in my life, and definitely can't afford to pay 'any price' for anything. But I'm happy to pay a fair price for Tivo because of the functionality, which leaves other current PVRs in the shade

Pot kettle black me thinks!
If anyone is reading this thread and thinking, that almost £200 for the pre-reg is a "special offer" and is a "good deal", then you must be MENTAL!
For NEW customers maybe, as it's new tech then fair enough!
My beef is that, we ALL assumed that the deal was gonna be good for the pre-reg, (at least minus the £40 install fee)
You only need to look at the sheer amount of replys venting their dissapointment at todays offer!
Now i KNOW that DF doesn't control the pricing, and i know it's not HIS fault, but he definitely didn't help matters with constant contributions to this thread in the days up to todays email, about the pre-reg's will get a good deal, and many other posts to that like!
All this i should goto sky, and if i dont like it p**s off, doesn't fly with me, i am as excited and looking forward to this box as the rest of you guys, but when somethings not fair, i am of the opinion of speaking out!
And THIS is the tivo thread, and THIS is where that opinion COUNTS and matters!
So if you dont like it TOUGH deal with it!
