Marketing Tivo
Virgin have done a superb job in marketing Tivo.It is a well known sales technique to offer a very attractive product and then make it hard to get for a while.People then want the product even more.
Imagine Tivo was the woman of your dreams who seemed to promise everything only to go cold on you at the crucial moment.Would you want her more or less?

But surely the TiVo can't be female because it can multi-task successfully!

That may well be, but IMAO they have over played it and have alienated a lot of there long standing customers.

Re: Marketing Tivo
I feel their handling so far has been excellent. Most people on this forum have an opinion on Tivo be it positive or negative. The main thing is Tivo is on it's way and nobody is ignoring it. Virgin would be panicking if Tivo was simply being ignored.

Re: Marketing Tivo
To be honest I don't think they've done a particularly good job at all. If it weren't for this forum I'd probably not know anything about it at all. I've only seen an advert on the side of a VM van and that's it.
Compared to the constant bombardment of ads for Sky on pretty much every channel, VM seems to do basically nothing on the publicity and advertising front.

Re: Marketing Tivo
I think they may have a big marketing push once it's available for all to order.

TiVo will be aggressively marketed later this year. VM want current customers to get it first.

Fair play!
At least their won't be lots of "Why are new customers treated better" etc. statements made by existing customers.

Don't make me laugh,VM couldnt care less who gets it first as long as they sell as many units as possible,to say they want current customers to get it first is simply not true,to prove this point you just have to ring VM sales line and they will openly tell you it makes no difference if you are an existing customer or a new subscriber.
