It's also for a dedicated 10 meg BB conection and the use of apps.
On top of that the recording functions that require a lot more EPG data than the sky box or current V+

As I and others have said several times, with the V+ the upscaled SD picture is so good it makes you question the wonders of HD. It seems, however, this may not be the case with the Tivo box. I have not got one so am unable to comment.

We are going back to the sky vs virgin you could argue that Sky's line rental if 12 months paid upfront is 9.25 compared to 12.99 for VM there evening and weekend calls are included in line rental this a further 4.00 from VM , there unlimited BB is 7.50 compared to 13.50 with VM and let's not forget if you have sky sports or movies in HD you pay 7.00 add the 3.00 TiVo and you've got a tenner there.

Am I right in thinking that ties you to Sky broadband? If so, this could be a limitation for people who'd like the greater channel choice of sky, but broadband from VM.

Have a look at the TiVo iPad app that Neil Burkett has said will be available later this year.
Makes the Sky one look very poor in comparison.

Know you have to have sky tv subscription to use Sky+ feature then the apps are free to download and use , you have to pay for sky mobile tv I think but not the sky+ apps.

But the Sky one is available now , you seem to think that Sky and other companies will still have the same STB in another 10 years

But not from Sky which was the comparison you were making
Plus all those others man using your normal BB whereas TiVo uses its own dedicated link.
Worth £3 on it's own.

Search the web, the TiVo one is available now just not working here so not downloadable here.
What is it with you and talking up Sky, are you trying to justify an iniment move to them ?

It's free for non commercial use. I haven't looked into it, but I suspect that Virgin would have to pay a substantial amount of money to use it (IMDB is part of Amazon and Amazon is a business, after all).
IMDB is also not always that accurate and despite being originally from the UK (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imdb ), it does not carry UK TV listings.

I have a tv for watching and a PVR for recording things when I'm not in so like many other people apps are not a big deal. Id rather have an antique dynamic epg which records all of a program than have to worry about setting it all up manually , and be 3.00 better off as well.

Mupster, I hate to say it but maybe you would be better off with Sky?

Maybe I would , that's choice like DF says , but this forum is so bias it's untrue, I try and give a balanced perspective as I've been a customer of both.
