Is there a point to you continuously dragging up the £3 charge scenario?

When Sky+ launched it was £10 per month

When TV Drive launched it was £10 per month

This is new tech and Virgin have deemed a monthly fee of £3 as suitable for them to both pay TiVo for the service and to make profit... I don't get why you keep asking the same question?

We'll see , can't see it ever being free , Comcast customers in the USA still pay 3.95 for the service , maybe this is the reason many people are ditching TIVO and using there TV providers offering.

No, people are ditching TiVo subscriptions and going back to their cableco's because they don't get full functionality of their service by using TiVo and cablecards. TiVo is now working with providers including Cox and Comcast to launch company specific TiVo equipment which allows access to the full range of cableco services as well as TiVo functionality... exactly like the Virgin Media deal.

TiVo may be losing subscription customers but they will be gaining customers through deals with cable and satellite providers, its just a different market for the same product.

I'm happy to pay it if it means having a frequent updates - as that's a major problem with V+ and added functionality like the mobile apps.

Will they find it easy here against Sky's offering with Dynamic epg , remote record apps , and no charge for PVR and functions of PVR.

It may never be free, but personally, I still think it's worth it for the extra functioality. Others may not think it's worth it though, I accept that.

But here lies the problem , lots won't when they can have a dynamic epg with Sky at no charge.
Most people wouldn't know what a dynamic EPG was if it dropped out of a tree (10 minutes early) on their head. They see things like Youtube, iPlayer, 4OD, ITV Player, 5 Player (guessed that one) and hopefully soon Spotify and Lovefilm and they think - WOW sounds great.

Have a look at the Sky+ iPad app it's pretty good , when you first click it it has showcase of thing on today or you can click TV guide when you click a show off the TV guide it tells you episode 1/24 Series 6 and also gives you other details of the show , it has the function to set remote record up and also says you may also like (for instance I have just clicked greys anatomy and it has put you may also like House , Nip Tuck , ER and Quincy Me and it's free as part of your sky+.

I know Jobs would like you to "Think Different" but most people don't have an iPad. Also the added cost of having to have an iPad to have that functionality is a bit steep.

That's not to say I love stuff like that and will get an iPad2 for the TiVo app but i'm not joe public.

£3 a month for Tivo sounds cheap to me against £10.25 a month per box on Sky just to get HD channels! Even one of Sky's greatest supporters on here (Marcus) admitted that Sky's SD picture was poor. I wonder why?

As I and others have said several times, with the V+ the upscaled SD picture is so good it makes you question the wonders of HD. It seems, however, this may not be the case with the Tivo box. I have not got one so am unable to comment.

DF you are getting me totally wrong I'm not bashing TIVO saying it's rubbish , in fact if you check my previous posts I've praised it , I'm merely trying to look at the 3.00 charge from a non fanatical point of view.

That sound's good. Is that information and the suggestions available through the guide when watching the TV, or just on the ipad app?
