About a year ago VM were well behind Sky and in serious danger of being made to look as if they were standing still, but over the last year VM have certainly had their foot on the accelerator with 28 HD channels being added, Tivo on the way and more HD channels to come.
Even Sky have had to admit that VM have raised their game recently, as regards missing channels on VM apart from Atlantic, which we will get sooner or later what are we really missing? Apart from a few HD variants I can't think of any...I mean how many channels can a person honestly watch, or maybe the question should be how many channels does any of us watch now on a regular basis? If I'm honest its a whole lot less than the 140 we already have.

This how I look at it Better being content and anything else coming along will be a bonus especially if I'm one of the happy 1,000 who get their Tivo box. I think virgin media a doing a good job.

I'd say Virgin have done a great job in the last 6 months. Since SKY Sports HD and SKY Movies HD launched on the 02nd August 2010 we've had the launch of:
Comedy Central HD
SKY One HD
NBC Universal On Demand
Catch-up with Demand Five
Cinémoi
ESPN Classic On Demand
Plus Five HD launched on the same day Virgin announced the sale of VMTV, which confirmed SKY Sports & Movies HD would be coming in August.

It seems to take a while for the V+ to receive new series links. It'll probably be available tomorrow.

That is definitely not true of all digital channels. Plenty of channels fill their day time off peak with much higher quality repeats than the garbage Atlantic is pushing out. Some of the shows on that channel are pathetic for a pay tv channel as IMO Virgin 1 had better day time shows than Atlantic and that channel was Freeview.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. I.
Virgin need a big push this year , for TIVO to be a success VM need to add many more HD channels , more on demand , Sky sports red button , don't forget Sky won't stop at 50.
---------- Post added at 16:03 ---------- Previous post was at 15:54 ----------
HD channels top of the list to acquire should be
ESPNA HD to strengthen sport genre.
Nat Geo Wild HD at the moment to few Documentary HD channels
Universal HD good entertainment HD channel.
Nick HD and Disney XD HD currently no kids HD channels.
Sky Sports 3 and 4 HD needed at some point.
History HD another factual channel.

I have just seen this thread over on the community forum and what the mods are saying ( so as what the other people on here have been saying it looks promising )

Seems reasonable but not at any price. I think a concentration on the non Sky HD channels and missing SD channels as the contracts come up. Do we know when the viacom deal is up as would be nice to have the missing MTV Channels. Also I am a bit of a fan of +1 channels so any more of them I'd welcome. I'm fairly happy overall though as we don't pay extra for HD unlike that other operator I can't bring myself to mention.

Technically you pay £50 for HD in the form of the HD Activation charge and if you have the sky premium HD channels thats another £7 a month.
So for one yea of the full HD line up with VM is £49.99 activation plus 12*£7 so £134 in total for 12 months. Sky is £10.25*12 months=£123 for a lot more HD channels.
Sky whoops VM for tv content but VM whoops sky for Broadband. I imagine it will be a lot cheaper for VM to bring its tv to be equal with sky than it will for sky to lay fibre to million of homes? Although i guess they will just resell bt fibre.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. I.
Loved the way you slanted the most expensive comparison....
I have the XL TV package, and don't pay anything (including activation) for HD channels I have - there is always more than one option.

You are forgetting the subsequent years:
SKY- £10.25X12=£123
VIRGIN ( After 1 year ) £7x12=£84
So a nice difference of £39 and that makes a lot of difference. So the activation charge is payed for in roughley 15 months from when you first paid it eg £50 / 15 months = £10 every 3 months.
