P/B Imedia 2470 just installed windows xp proffesional and have no sound on external speakers. go to hardware and yellow ? against other device - high definition audio bus, try to update drivers but none found, any ideas please

It's probably built in to the motherboard. Try going to the website of the computer manufacturer.

Could also be part of a modem driver or audio on GFX card. Had this a few times on laptops, install all drivers and there's an audio driver missing, sometimes it's the HDMI driver on the onboard Intel GFX chip or part of a modem driver.

All the imedia XP drivers are in there you may need to run everest to find out the chipset for the audio

Have been to p/b download site and downloaded some drivers, question if I download wrong drivers ie. chipset driver will it be installed if it is the wrong driver for chipset? I have spoken to P/B they say I require legacy drivers I have downloaded realtec hda audio.exe although it clears the error ? in device manager sound still not working, also in sounds and audio device manager the drop down lists show no device installed. any ideas how to fix this.
