After reading this on WIKIPEDIA ( 99% with pinch of salt ) not sure if they have had to renew the license or it is a new broadcast license:

United Kingdom and Ireland
Launched on July 8, 2006, the UK network Bravo used to air an Adult Swim block nightly, generally starting at midnight each night. The UK's Bravo channel is owned by Virgin Media Television, although in other parts of the world Adult Swim is a block on Time Warner-owned Cartoon Network. Shows that were previously a part of the UK's Adult Swim block are Robot Chicken, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021, The Brak Show, Tom Goes to the Mayor, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, The Venture Bros., Moral Orel, and Metalocalypse,[42] Non-Williams Street shows on the block include Stripperella and Kid Notorious. The first "action" series was the anime Afro Samurai, which aired on May 4, 2007 alongside a new UK animated show Modern Toss. On July 7, 2008, Adult Swim ceased to broadcast on Bravo, and its future remains uncertain.[43]

The UK Adult Swim website, like its American counterpart, offers free access to full episodes of shows including Squidbillies, Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, Tom Goes to the Mayor, Minoriteam, Stroker and Hoop, Moral Orel, 12 oz. Mouse, Perfect Hair Forever, Metalocalypse, and Frisky Dingo. Unlike Adult Swim on Bravo UK, the website service is owned by Time Warner. Revolver Entertainment recently began distributing original Adult Swim series on DVD in the UK and Ireland.[44]

FX (UK) aired Robot Chicken, Titan Maximum, Venture Brothers and "Metalocalypse". These shows were advertised with [adult swim] branding. They began airing on 5 June 2010 in conjunction with their regular schedule and ended on 27 November 2010.

Confused so am i

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. I.

UPDATE TO MY EARLIER POST RE SKY BASICS

This is the interesting (albeit brief) reply I got from the CEO's office earlier today. In case you didn't read my post I asked when VM said they have access to all Sky's basic HD channels does that mean the channels that were broadcasting at the time of the deal, or did it include future channel launches:-

Hi, the details are confidential I'm sorry. We are in negotiations over Atlantic though.

Neil Berkett | Chief Executive Officer
Virgin Media
D: +44 1256 754554

I read that as they do indeed have access to all the basic HD channels, if they can negotiate a price. Then again I could be totally wrong.

Previously they have just said it is confidential.

Basically, They're saying it's a renewal of the Sky Mobile channel they have, but I believe it's a license for a new TV channel

I am sure they do, but VM's pricing structure cannot help either even if we all like it.

I guess we cannot have it both ways, channels like Atlantic HD are expensive and are likely to attract a premium.

VM had to sell there tv platform to Sky to get access to Sky 1 HD. You can't get much more difficult than that.

That's what I say when people ask the question were they right to sell VMtv, would we really have 12 Sky HD channels now, with more to come and red button?

I doubt it myself, I also think they would have sold VMtv to someone else anyway so I think it was a good deal.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. I.

What I don't want VM to do is pay stupid money for Sky Atlantic at the risk of getting no more HD channels would much sooner have say ESPNA HD , Disney XD HD , Nat Geo Wild HD than one Sky channel.

I doubt they would, or indeed could.

All those channels would of course be nice but they have to be affordable and fit in with their pricing structure.

Virgin need to look at their HD Genres and see what's lacking Kids defo is with no HD channels and Documentary only has two.

---------- Post added at 19:41 ---------- Previous post was at 19:16 ----------

I'm sorry if some people on here don't like this but it needs to be said.

The main gripes on this forum are

1. Virgin take ages to launch channels.
2. Virgin are way behind Sky on HD channels.
3. TIVO is way overpriced and should be cheaper.

My answers to these are as follows

1. With the HD free on XL policy Virgin negotiations take longer as they strive to get the cheapest price for you the customer.

2. The main reason Sky have more HD content is the fact half of the content is there own and the rest they recoup in the £10.25 a month HD charge. The facts are with VM XL you pay £23.50 and get ESPN , Sky charge £24.00 for 6 mix and £10.25 if you want HD pack and ESPN is a further £12.00 if you don't have Sky Sports.

3. People say TIVO is expensive at launch but the truth is the box has a 1 TB HDD and is new technology , don't forget the Sky HD 1 TB box is £299 I believe. People will say you can keep the Sky box which is a valid point but with no Sky sub this just becomes an expensive freesar receiver.
