Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. I.
Do not know if anyone else noticed this today but before i had to go out today my partner had switched over to HISTORY channel at about 10.20am and it had the HISTORY HD dog at the bottom right had corner instead of the HISTORY dog at the top left.
Do not know if they have got the feed wrong but the channel since i got back is the normal dog
And also the website is still saying that we get HISTORY+1 on channel 235?

We may get Sky Arts 1 HD.
With Sky Arts 2 HD not launching making way for Sky Atlantic HD to launch.
Also if Virgin cant get Sky Atlantic they may axe Sky3 to make way for it to launch.

Confused by this, why would dropping Sky 3 help us get Sky Atlantic? If it was a question of number of channels surely it could replace Bravo etc.

It doesn't make a great deal of sense, but MB can only report what he's been told. That was before Sky Atlantic HD was announced as a "Sky exclusive" so it's probably out of date now.
Three Bravo slots and Challenge Jackpot have all closed now, so there's plenty of SD capacity. ITV+1 will take one slot. I'd hope Sky Atlantic would have another. When does Channel One close? That's far enough up the EPG to make it an attractive slot, especially as it falls just below Sky 1 (119 and 120)

from The Guardian today. Stuart Murphy on Sky Atlantic.....
Quote:
"Unlike other broadcasters, Sky won't hide these series in the twilight hours – we feel incredibly proud of this content and feel privileged to air it in peak time, in high definition, exclusively for all Sky customers," said Murphy.

notice he specifically mentioned HD. My gut feeling is that for Sky to claw back the money they've spent buying all these exclusive series they will give VM Atlantic SD...maybe not on launch but soon after.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. I.
We aren't getting it, well not from launch anyway.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011...ardwalk-empire
The guy who wrote the article, John Plunkett, who interviewed Stuart Murphy, the director of programmes for Sky 1 and Sky Atlantic posted the following comment later on the same page as his article.
"Thanks for comments. Re: distribution, Sky Atlantic will only be on Sky platform, not Virgin Media. At least, not yet, and certainly not for launch. Will be 108 in the newly rejigged EPG, beneath Sky 1 (which remains at 106) and Sky Living, at 107. Distraught Sky2 and Sky3 fans are going to have to trawl further down the EPG."

On Twitter also says
@MisterFusty there is not currently a deal in place with Virgin Media.
AND
@sb2009 @capaddona
It'll be Sky only I'm afraid, they have confirmed on their twitter feed that "there's not currently a deal in place with Virgin Media"
No where does it say no way no how!!! We'll see....

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. I.
SKY's press release today about SKY Atlantic.
http://corporate.sky.com/media/press...ltantic_HD.htm
"Sky Atlantic HD to bring the very best in entertainment and drama exclusively to Sky customers from 1st February 2011
Sky today confirmed the eagerly awaited launch of Sky Atlantic HD – a brand new channel that will provide the very best in entertainment, drama and films to Sky customers across the UK and Ireland. Bringing together innovative and distinctive original productions from home and abroad, Sky Atlantic will be free and exclusive to all 10 million Sky customers from its launch on 1 st February 2011."
I think this is the first time SKY have referred to the channel as SKY Atlantic, not SKY Atlantic HD in any of their previous communications.
