Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010) Vol. IV

With the new box being free for VIP and triple XL, I'd imagine they're going to be swamped with requests for the new TIVOs. I hope they've ordered a few truck loads of boxes and installation engineers to do the install.

I guess it could be quite a wait to get one!

New Customers
(Joining from Sky/Freeview) Set-up fee £149 - Install fee £40 - Monthly fee £3/pm
(new to Digital TV) Set-up fee £199 - Install fee £40 - Monthly fee £3/pm

Or, more to the point - why are existing Digital TV customers paying less then those new to Digital TV? What difference does it make to VM if a new customer has Sky/Freeview or not?

And what about FreeSat customers?
Oh i see what you mean! No idea then but most people will have Freeview i guess, but it is a very strange thing for VM to do.

I'd hazard a guess it'll be self install to get it for free.
There's no way they'll give you an engi install for free with the level of demand that pricing will give.

It'd likely be a case of "give us your old STB and we'll give you a £50 discount".

I expect loads of 2nd hand, cheapo Freeview boxes being brought on eBay by potential Virgin Tivo customers then.

"See??? I'm coming from Freeview! Honest! Knock £50 off the install fee, cheers love."

what if you have freeview through a built in TV tuner like a lot of people. You can't give that to VM

Good point. As the TIVO has it's own internal modem, will it still just be a case of swapping the cable over from the V+ to the TIVO?

I just hope the box has a better way of dealing with amps as with the v+ i am not much for the hdmi audio override.

Good point.

What verification process are Virgin planning to using for identifying someone coming from Freeview?
