Re: CCTV shows police 'punching' stab victim

Does anyone think that if it does turn out that the officer was punching him in the head, that it's acceptable? even though it may hurt a bit as that's where he was stabbed?

If it was the head he was being punched in then its a lot harder to defend but there might still be a case why that happened.

I've been reading the coverage over at the Daily Heil. Aside from their usual anti-police moans they state the 'victim' hasn't made any official complaint about it.

Re: CCTV shows police 'punching' stab victim

Anyway, as Derek said, the police standards people normally love to roast coppers in the media, so when they don't, you really know there'snothing in it.

While we're on the subject though, and with the "Tough on Crime" thread closed, i'll post this here. Coppers have been given 18 month - 2+ years prison sentences for various assaults in police custody including punching and a bit of hair pulling.

Well a PC has lost 2 fingers due to an assault by a prisoner and she got a suspended jail sentence. Permantly maimed, for that. But i'm sure you all know this already as it was extremely widely reported, just like if a PC caused a prisoner to lose 2 fingers.

Based on what we saw (and if it 'is' punches to the head) I expect a very good reason to come forth as to why.

Isn't he suing them now? I read that he wasn't co-operating as he doesn't trust them after the incident.

Re: CCTV shows police 'punching' stab victim

I've said this before and I'll say it again, if the police have to come and get you, they're probably bringing a butt kicking with them.

As much as someone may hate the police, or believe they are genuinely innocent etc, compliance goes a LONG way.

You could probably show footage of incidents from any number of the current crop of fly on the wall police documentaries and argue excessive force.... Without being in possession of the full facts that is....

are you saying that facts should be introduced before any judgement is reached ? cos if you are then i strongly protest ..i mean ,what would we have to rant about if people kept introducing facts into threads

Does anyone think that if it does turn out that the guy on the ground was attacking the police in the missing part of the video, that it's acceptable?

Two screen-caps from 8 seconds into the video........

I don't, but you put it far more eloquently than I did.

It's par for the course these days that videos are deliberately edited to cast the police in the worst possible light.

What, attacking the police, or still the punching in the head?
