I just hope the channels change over quicker. I am not fussed if it is the Samsung or the Cisco one to be honest.
I am not paying any extra for HD. I have the BASIC Tv pack and the Asian Pack (£10), thats it, and so don't need HD although BBC HD/ITV HD etc would be nice.
Will try and keep you guys posted with which box it is (need to remember to post back!)

Remember if your is potential new replacement STB is HD capable it is a one off activation charge, then you will not have to pay anything else to watch those above HD channels on your TV subscription.

Oh really? I thought you had to have XL tv to get the HD channels (even bbc!)
How much is the activation? £49?
Is there a monthly charge after?
Which HD channels are free if you activate but only have the TV: Size M?
Ooooh, its 8am and I am ready for the person to arrive .

Re: Can I get a new Box?
OK, all done =) ... got the V HD box (Cisco one). Looks sleek, no arial thingy, and only 1 SCART socket.
Engineer said I should call up and ask how much it would cost for HD channels.... so if anyone could answer the post above it would be much appreciated.
Thanks

So no monthly fee?
Also, why do they charge for "Activation?" Just doesn't seem logical? (Apart from them making money? - As the channels are FTA?)

No monthly fee.
Virgin Media is a business and they are providing hardware and supporting it. The cost needs to be re-couped from somewhere. The V-HD box is the standard box, but if you want HD, then a activation fee applies.
No channels are not FTA on cable. Only Satellite and Terrestial has FTA channels

Re: Can I get a new Box?
OK, helpppppppppp!
Basically, I didn't realise at the time, but we had an arial running upstairs, so that we could watch whatever VM box was showing downstairs, upstairs too.
But this box doesn't have the RF stuff, so we can't get that channel upstairs now.
Found out about the UNIVERSAL MODULATOR which could solve this issue (SCART in RF OUT), however my mum has got the perfect excuse and she wants another box upstairs too (so that she can change the channel). So before we take that plunge, a few questions:
1. I understand the extra box will cost £10 per month.
2. If I activate the HD on the CURRENT box, (@ £49), the new box will be at £5.50 a month
3. NOW, we have the Asian Pack (@£10), if we were to get the additional STB, would we get the Asian Pack on it too, i.e. Pay £5.50 a month for the box AND get the Asian Pack on it OR do we have to buy the Asian Pack on that seperately?
4. Also, I think it is something like if you have TV XL, then HD has no activation charge? Is this true?
5. Is it possible to get TV XL and then downgrade back to TV M but keep the HD channels as it would have been activated?
Sorry many questions, but unsure! (If you can reply using the question numbers I won't be confused )
Thanks
