Re: The Amazon Kindle Thread
Am I right in thinking that the screens on these are not backlit? so night time reading needs an additional lightsource????

Re: The Amazon Kindle Thread
I think battery life and contrast were the reasons Amazon gave for a lack of backlight.

They could have implemented some soft of soft switch though so people who were not overly concerned about battery life could have the option.
I have an LED light somewhere which might do the trick, and a friend of mine has a kindle and she said I can have a play, so watch this space I could be announcing my kindle order..

You can buy a case with a built in light.

The case is £30 so it's £20 for the light, which is tied in with the case. I think Amazon want to make a profit on it because I believe the margins are wafer thin on the Kindle/

But yours does not fit the Kindle like a glove.

The built in light is powered by the Kindle through the two slots on the left hand side of the unit. They double up as the clips to hold the Kindle in the case.
Saying that £50.00 is far too much money for a case, mine currently lives in an A5 zipped plastic wallet from Wikinsons (70p).
