Re: Boycott the charity muggers?
Don't allow eye contact (do not look at them) it is very difficult for them to initiate a conversation without eye contact.

Yep, I just say "sorry, busy" and carry on walking.

Re: Boycott the charity muggers?
At the end of the day, I have enough challenges keeping my own finances in order without having to worry about others.
Charity begins at home.
And that is what i tell them, it works.

Re: Boycott the charity muggers?
I equally only give to one charity, me
That said, except where my work colleagues manage to capture me to sponsor them for their latest fad, walk around the city, ride a bike 30kms etc. I am starting to suspect i am funding their exercise routine

The Oxford Street/Whitewalls area of Swansea is now the worst place for these people, you end up running the gauntlet of at least four of them. I now avoid the area if at all possible.

Re: Boycott the charity muggers?
The entrance to Buchanan Galleries, at the top of Buchanan Street and the bottom of Sauchiehall Street, is ground zero for a major chugger infestation in Glasgow. Mind you, Princes Street in Edinburgh is probably worse, because it's not pedestrianised and there are only shops on one side, so all the shoppers and all the chuggers are squeezed onto one long pavement. Trying to walk from one end to the other is like running a gauntlet.

The worst one I saw in Princes street was a woman who looked like she was from eEastern Europe who knelt down all day with her palm outstretched with a fake sad look on her face, she must rake in hundreds from all the gullible fools.

Re: Boycott the charity muggers?
Well, at least Manchester City Council are going to try to limit their activities:

Hope it works...
